How to Get The Fool's Remedy & the God Roll - Destiny 2 Guide

Destiny 2’s Iron Banner is back, so that means it’s time to start farming two great legendary weapons that survive rotation. While we have previously covered The Forward Path auto rifle, today it’s time to look at the absolutely potent sidearm, The Fool’s Remedy. Unlike other sidearms, this one is tied to SUROS Rapid-Fire archetype, meaning it’s fully automatic right from the start. Previously a perk that a lot of players hunted down, being able to just hold the trigger and unleash an onslaught of bullets already pushes this sidearm above a lot of the other options.  If you’re looking to farm this weapon, here’s how to get it and what the god roll is!

How to Get The Fool’s Remedy

The Fool’s Remedy is tied to Iron Banner, meaning you can only acquire this weapon during this week-long event. Fortunately, Iron Banner typically appears 3-4 times throughout the season, so you will have ample opportunities to farm for this gun. However, to get it to actually appear in the loot pool you’ll need to complete the very short Iron Banner quest given out by Lord Saladin. This quest just asks you to get 25 auto rifle and 25 sidearm kills in Iron Banner. Given that’s all anyone is using at the moment, you should have no trouble achieving this.

Once the quest is completed, Saladin will give you a free The Forward Path and The Fool’s Remedy, along with allowing you to turn in Iron Banner Tokens for Iron Banner gear. You will now have a chance to receive this gun as a reward after a match or from turning in Iron Banner Tokens to Lord Saladin. It takes 20 to get an engram package from Lord Saladin, so this will take a bit of time to grind for. Just remember, you have multiple opportunities throughout the season, so don’t burn yourself out in one sitting!

The Fool’s Remedy God Rolls

The Fool’s Remedy PVE God Roll

  • Control SAS
  • Flared Magwell or Extended Mag
  • Feeding Frenzy
  • Kill Clip

Even though The Fool’s Remedy PVE perk pool is lacking, we still have some great choices. Control SAS is in our first slot to boost our aim assistance, stability, and handling. Since the gun fires in full-auto, having a bit more control over the recoil is always welcomed. Flared Magwell allows for faster reloads, but there’s also a strong argument for Extended Mag since Feeding Frenzy already boosts our reload speed. Both are solid options, but I personally prefer Extended Mag, as it synergizes perfectly with the rest of the perks.

The two core perks are the wombo combo of Feeding Frenzy and Kill Clip. It’s not exactly a surprising or unique set of perks, but they’re great at allowing us to mow down hordes of red bar enemies. You can also use Fourth Time’s the Charm, but this isn’t a solid option since you won’t be using The Fool’s Remedy for majors or bosses. Instead, just make this sidearm your general mob-clearing weapon and you should be fine. However, if you really want a good PVE sidearm, I recommend just farming Umbral ENgrams for Breachlight instead.

The Fool’s Remedy PVP God Roll

  • Tactic SAS
  • Richochet Rounds
  • Moving Target
  • Rangefinder or Iron Gaze (console only)

The Fool’s Remedy is definitely a solid PVP sidearm, mainly due to the flexible and unique perk pool. There are a lot of terrific choices, which means the god roll may vary depending on what your playstyle is. With that said, we have narrowed down a terrific set of perks that will work with most builds and playstyles. In the first two slots, we’re looking for both Tactic SAS and Richochet Rounds to extend out weapon’s range. This has always been an issue with sidearms in PVP, as they are simply outclassed at a distance.

Here’s where things get a little tricky, as there are a lot of great PVP perks to choose from. I decided to go with Moving Target since it increases our mobility and target acquisition. Not only does this work wonderfully with Iron Gaze, but it allows us to be a lot more mobile during battles. Finally, you will want either Rangefinder or Iron Gaze depending on what platform you play on. Iron Gaze isn’t great on PC, but it’s a powerhouse perk on Xbox One or PS4. Having increased target acquisition on a controller is pretty bonkers, so you will definitely want this is you play on either of the platforms listed. For those on PC, just go for Rangefinder to let you engage enemies at an even greater distance.

Iron Banner is currently live on all platforms until August 11th.
