Season of the Wish is upon us in Destiny 2! With it comes a slew of new weapons to collect and a whole heaping of reissued guns as well. Naturally, that means everyone is itching to get their hands on the best possible roll. But early on it can be really hard to know what will perform the best. In this guide, we tell you how to obtain Abide the Return and make some early god roll recommendations for the latest Destiny 2 sword.
We’ve teamed up with Stardust, one of the people behind Clarity - D2 Research, a Destiny 2 project which provides highly trusted explanations of perks, mods, and more for websites like Destiny Item Manager (DIM), Light.gg, Foundry, and more! With his extensive knowledge and experience studying weapons in depth for thousands of hours and keeping a close eye on the meta at all times at every level, he’s more than qualified to make these selections.
How to Obtain
You’ll be able to get the Abide the Return after completing Dreaming City activities. These include the Blind Well, the Shattered Throne dungeon, Ascendant Challenge chests, and Season of the Wish activities.
About Abide the Return
Abide the Return is a Legendary Power sword that has the Adaptive Frame archetype. This means that its heavy attack will launch an uppercut, with it being more powerful at full energy. It also possesses the Advanced Reflexes origin trait that grants mobility, handling, and charge rate bonuses after taking damage, aiming down sights, or guarding quickly.
Abide the Return PVE God Roll
While it will reduce the Abide the Return’s damage output, Enduring Blade increases its ammo capacity and magazine size, making it worth equipping. Balanced Guard is a great option for increasing all your guard defenses while also improving the weapon’s stability and inventory size. Relentless Strikes will ease up add-clear by granting sword damage after landing three light-attacks, which complements perfectly with Balanced Guard. Finally, Incandescent will also contribute to add-clear by scorching nearby targets after defeating enemies.
Best PVE Perks by Column Number
- Enduring Blade or Jagged Edge
- Balanced Guard
- Relentless Strikes or Duelist’s Trance or Energy Transfer
- Incandescent or Whirlwind Blade or Attrition Orbs
Abide the Return PVP God Roll
We strongly recommend not using the Abide the Return for PVP since its trait pool is better built for PVE.
