Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer is here and it’s time to elevate your fashion game. Along with new weapons, a 6 player activity, armor, story missions, and season pass, the heavily requested armor transmogrification feature is finally arriving. In this season, players will team up with the Fallen Captain Mithrax to stop the Vex from plunging Earth into total darkness. Of course, the main thing you care about is getting all that sweet, sweet loot. Season 14 introduces a bunch of new weapons along with some old favorites for players to hunt down. One of these weapons is Ignition Code, a Kinetic grenade launcher that my Guardian is apparently hoarding by the dozens.
How to Get Ignition Code
Farming for Ignition Code is pretty simple and won’t require too much effort from you. This is a seasonal weapon, meaning it can drop from completing the Override activity, opening Splicer Reputation packages, completing Weekly Challenges, and decrypting certain focused Umbral Engrams. Similar to last season, players can complete specific Triumphs to unlock Focuses in the Prismatic Recaster. Doing so will let you spend Decrypted Data to turn a normal Umbral Engram into one that has a higher chance to drop the weapon you want.
For Ignition Code, the Splicer Armory or Splicer Captain’s Armory are the two focuses you want to unlock. The former gives you a weapon from the seasonal pool, while the latter narrows down your choices between Ignition Code and Chroma Rush. Now you will need to unlock Splicer Captain’s Armory, which requires a lot of grenade launcher or auto rifle kills. If you want to unlock this quickly I recommend either playing Override, Battlegrounds, or wiping out the endless waves of Shadow Thrall in The Shattered Throne’s hallway encounter.

Ignition PVE God Roll
- Volatile Launch
- Blinding Grenades or Spike Grenades
- Ambitious Assassin or Field Prep
- Vorpal Weapon or Frenzy
Similar to other grenade launchers, what you deem a god roll entirely depends on how you’ll be using this weapon. In the first slot, I am picking Volatile Launch to significantly increase Ignition Code’s blast radius. This does hamper the velocity and handling slightly, but it’s an acceptable penalty. For the second slot, the absolute god roll is getting both Spike and Blinding Grenades. The former is perfect if you need to deal more damage to boss enemies, while Blinding Grenades give you some terrific crowd control options. Both are extremely useful and you shouldn’t consider any Ignition Code a god roll without these two.
As for primary perks, we are looking for either Ambitious Assassin or Field Prep. While Field Prep can be useful for damaging static bosses, but I personally prefer Ambitious Assassin since having two rounds in the chamber is terrific for a grenade launcher. In the second slot, both Frenzy and Vorpal Weapon are solid choices. Frenzy gives us a straight damage boost the longer we’re in combat, while Vorpal makes this weapon especially effective against champions and bosses. Ultimately it depends on what you are going to use this for, as Vorpal is strictly better for damaging boss-tier enemies. Also, don’t sleep on Slideshot! It can be quite useful if you need to be mobile and don’t have time to reload.

For PVP, I really like Quick Launch. While I might be alone on this, the increase in both handling and velocity with no penalties to any other stat. Sure it’s not a massive boost, but I’d rather not decrease our blast radius on the off chance we miss our target. Spike Grenades is in the second slot, mainly so we can ensure that we kill a Guardian when they are hit with a grenade. That being said, you can make an argument for Blinding Grenades if you want to use this weapon to create an opening so you can bring them down with your primary.
Slideshot is always a great PVP perk given how critical mobility is in this game. Being able to just slide away from combat and instantly reload your weapon while boosting its stability and range is terrific. Alternatively, if you prefer to no slide around, Quickdraw allows you to swiftly engage enemies before they can kill you. Vorpal is great for taking down Guardians in their Supers, while Thresh provides us with a source of extra Super energy which is always nice. Even though Ignition Code isn’t the best PVP weapon, it’s still a decent choice for those looking to make things go boom.
