How to Unlock Intel – Destiny 2 Witch Queen Seasonal Currency

Psychogenic Intel is the new seasonal currency during Season of the Risen, but it’s not available right away. Gaining access to it requires some legwork on your end, which can be confusing at first.

The steps to unlock Destiny 2 Witch Queen Psychogenic Intel are as follows:

Progress through The Witch Queen campaign up to the end of The Investigation
This unlocks Rising Tensions, which is the quest to follow through — it’s not super long, but requires some back-and-forth
Once you’re done, you get access to Operation Elbrus, which is the Season of the Risen weekly questline
The first step asks you to gather Intel — thankfully, the Psychogenic Intel material begins to drop after you’ve unlocked Operation Elbrus

That is the gist of it — in summary, you need to progress quite a bit into the campaign. But I highly recommend taking a detour and completing Rising Tensions to start receiving Psychogenic Intel as soon as possible.

How to Get Intel – Destiny 2 Witch Queen Psychogenic Intel

You can get Psychogenic Intel from the following sources:

Completing The Witch Queen campaign missions in the Throne World
Completing Strikes, Crucible, and Gambit activities
As a random drop from enemies
Opening the chest at the end of PsiOps Battleground
Public events

To provide a broad idea of how much Destiny 2 Witch Queen Psychogenic Intel you can get based on my experience: Enemies tend to drop the material on occasion, giving you 40 Psychogenic Intel a pop. Opening the chest at the end of a PsiOps Battleground activity net me with 20 Psychogenic Intel instead. Public events are on the lower scale, granting around 10 Psychogenic Intel upon completion.

Finishing activities, however, gives you quite a bit more than that. Completing Strikes gave me 258 Psychogenic Intel each time, which was a welcoming change of pace. In addition to approximately two random drops from enemies, it took two Strikes to complete the first step of Operation Elbrus without much effort, and with tons to spare for the following weeks.

I recommend prioritizing Strikes as they take significantly less time than campaign missions. But as you wait for the next Operation Elbrus steps to drop, you’re guaranteed to continue hoarding Destiny 2 Witch Queen Psychogenic Intel in the meantime. Crucible, while netting a bit less, is also a great alternative to gain more than 200 Psychogenic Intel each time. Finishing a campaign mission gave me 305 Intel, but that was after the upgrade.

If you want to increase this further, the last step of Operation Elbrus‘ first week grants you Insight, which can be spent for upgrades in the War Table at the H.E.L.M. space. When given the choice, go for Throne World Surveillance, which grants bonus Psychogenic Intel. Finishing a campaign mission gave me 305 Intel after the upgrade, so it’s worth getting it early.

In addition, keep an eye out for gear pieces with the armor perk Uniformed Officer, which grants additional Psychogenic Intel when completing activities.

That is all! For the time being, you can spend Destiny 2‘s Intel to open the Decode Runic Chest at the end of PsiOps Battleground for 500 Psychogenic Intel.
