How to Spend Legendary Shards Before They’re Gone in Destiny 2

There are several ways to spend your remaining Legendary Shards in Destiny 2.

Bungie announced that Legendary Shards will leave Destiny 2 starting in Season 23, and the currency will no longer be in the game when The Final Shape expansion launches. It's a farmable currency necessary for purchasing and upgrading gear, but a new economy format is on the way.

So, for those who want to expend thousands of Legendary Shards before they're gone, here are a few ways to do it.

How to Spend Legendary Shards

Weapon Focusing

Focusing engrams through the vendor Focused Decoding requires 25 Legendary Shards, 10,000 Glimmer, and the respective engram. As long as players have enough engrams, they can burn through their Legendary Shards. Also, playlist vendors have Legacy gear listed for 25 Legendary Shards, 10,000 Glimmer, and the respective engram. Some Legacy gear at Saint-14 and Drifter  Legacy go for 50 Legendary Shards instead.

Master Rahool Material Exchange

Master Rahool offers special orders like Enhancement Prisms and Ascendant Alloy that cost 400 Legendary Shards each, while Enhancement Cores are for 30. Players can only buy a limited amount each week, but it's still a reliable method. Also, Master Rahool sells 10,000 Glimmer for 10 Legendary Shards.

Raid Banners

If there's enough space in the Inventory, stock up on Raid Banners from Suraya Hawthorne. Players can get 10 Raid Banners for 30 Legendary Shards, and each slot in the Inventory can hold 100 Raid Banners. Keep in mind that players can't store Raid Banners in the Vault.

Upgrade Modules

Ada-1 and Banshee-44 sell Upgrade Modules for 10 Legendary Shards, 5,000 Glimmer, and an Enhancement Core.

Purchasing Legendary and Exotic Weapons

From Banshee-44, players can pick up Legendary weapons for 30 Legendary Shards and 7,000 Glimmer. However, with Banshee getting weapon focusing in Season 23, he will stop carrying the weapons row. Xur's Exotic wares range from 23 to 29 Legendary Shards, while Legendary gear costs 50. The Exotic engram sells for 97 Legendary Shards.

Monument To Lost Lights

Legacy gear at the Tower's Monument To Lost Lights ranges from 100 to 250 Legendary Shards, while the Exotic items range from 150 to 250. Each purchase requires additional currency and materials, too.

Phantasmal Fragments

The Lectern of Enchantment on the Moon sells Phantasmal Fragments for 10 Legendary Shards, and several fit into one slot in the Inventory. If Bungie doesn't remove Phantasmal Fragments from the game or modify Master Rahool's material exchange, players can use this material to get Glimmer when Legendary Shards become obsolete.

Miscellaneous

The Collections tab lets players reacquire weapons and equipment they've already earned in the game. Another way to spend small amounts of Legendary Shards is by upgrading armor pieces.

Guardians in the Destiny 2 community are vocal with their concerns over the game economy and losing Legendary Shards without a proper exchange. Bungie has not yet said if it will increase the Glimmer capacity in Destiny 2 either.
