Destiny 2 Season of the Haunted is almost over and it’s the spookiest addition yet. With the return of Emperor Calus’ mighty Leviathan, players are tasked with venturing into this massive ship to deduce what has happened to the corrupted vessel. Along with the new Nightmare Containment activity, players can earn new weapons, armor, and cosmetics for their Guardian.
With Season 18 launching in a few weeks, this means the final major subclass update will finally go live. Following in the footsteps of Void and Solar, Arc 3.0 will offer players access to every type of grenade, new abilities, aspects, fragments, and keywords. Because of this, players should start considering what weapons they want to use going into Season 18. Outside of obvious exotics like Riskrunner, Trinity Ghoul, and Anarchy, there’s a nice assortment of powerful Arc weapons worth picking up before this update drops.
Keep in mind, these are only recommendations as you don’t necessarily need a good Arc legendary weapon. However, elemental weapons typically synergize wonderfully whenever a subclass is updated.
Best Legendary Arc Weapons For Arc 3.0
Sweet Sorrow
My personal choice for Arc 3.0, the Sweet Sorrow is a terrific Rapid-Fire Frame auto rifle that has solid stats and can be crafted. While you can go for the perk wombo combo of Stats For All/One For All, I personally love Triple Tap and Demolitionist for this gun. There are a lot of powerful abilities that players can abuse, so being able to reduce the cooldown of your grenades per kill can make a build far more consistent. You can get Sweet Sorrow from the Season 16 activity, PsiOps Battlegrounds which can be accessed via the H.E.L.M.
Insidious
For fans of pulse rifles, I highly recommend Insidious. Available via the Vow of the Disciple raid, this four-burst fire pulse rifle hits like a truck, is quite accurate, and has a deep perk pool. What’s great about Insidious, is it boasts great rolls for those looking to focus on abilities or difficult endgame activities. Demolitionist/Adrenaline Junkie is perfect for those who are focusing on grenades while Rapid Hit/Vorpal Weapon is terrifyingly consistent across the board. Did I mention you can craft this gun and get enhanced versions of all these perks? Yeah, definitely pick up an Insidious before Season 18.
Forgiveness
Similar to Insidious, Forgiveness has some great rolls to suit most playstyles. Even though you cannot craft Forgiveness you can still get an Adept version of this gun by reaching the Lighthouse when it’s available. I’ve never been a fan of sidearms in PVE, but Forgiveness is a good close-range option for those who don’t like to use auto rifles or submachine guns.
Nature of the Beast
This might seem like an odd one, but when it comes to Arc hand cannons our options are sadly limited. Yes, Waking Vigil is a good weapon but there’s a specific roll I recommend keeping an eye out for. Nature of the Beast can roll with Subsistence and Demolitionist which is a remarkably strong combo. Given the slow reload speed, Subsistence is a great way to subvert this low base stat. You’ll also want Tactical Mag since this not only increases our magazine size but gives us a much-needed +10 to reload speed. There are better options out there, but for hand cannon enthusiasts this is a gun worth keeping an eye open for.
Forbearance
If there is one Special weapon you want to craft for Arc 3.0 it’s Forbearance. Tied to the Vow of Disciple raid, this wave-frame grenade launcher not only has great stats but can roll with some really useful perks. My favorite roll is Ambitious Assassin/Chain Reaction, as it gives you amazing add clear potential. Even if this weapon doesn’t completely synergize with any Arc 3.0 keywords or abilities, Forbearance is still a top-tier weapon that’s worth hunting for. Plus, the intrinsic perk gives you some additional healing upon reloading the weapon.
Plug One.1
It wouldn’t be a weapon recommendation list if I didn’t include at least one fusion rifle. Plug One.1 is a Nightfall weapon and an exceptionally potent Special weapon. Despite not being craftable, Plug One.1 can roll with perks like Adrenaline Junkie, Heating Up, Kickstart, Compulsive Reloader, and my personal favorite, Reservoir Burst. Great for both casual and endgame PVE activities, this is the gun I have been hunting for all season since the Vanguard intrinsic perks make this fusion rifle spectacular.
Nezarec’s Whisper
Look, I don’t really care for glaives myself, but I have been told time and time again how good they are. What’s intriguing about Nezarec’s Whisper is it has some spicy rolls you don’t normally see on glaives. Demolitionist/Adrenaline Junkie is an obvious choice, but you shouldn’t sleep on Impulse Amplifier/Frenzy to make your weapon far more dangerous.
Stormchaser
The last weapon on my list is the current boss DPS king. Found in the Duality dungeon, Stormchaser is an extremely strong single-target weapon that can obliterate bosses, Champions, and anything dumb enough to stand in your way. Firing three shots at a time, the Stormchaser has quickly risen in popularity due to its high damage output and general consistency in any activity. Stormchaser being Arc is only a bonus, making it even more desirable in a post-Arc 3.0 world.
