Dragon's Dogma 2 Augments Explained: How to Acquire and the Best to Use

These passive skills are the meta in DD2.

Dragon's Dogma 2 lets your Arisen player character assume 10 different Vocations, with each of them capable of acquiring a series of Augments that can enhance their various skills in different ways. The real gameplay customization comes in unlocking the various Augments because regardless of your active Vocation, you can equip up to six of your unlocked Augments. Want a boost to defense on your Sorcerer? You can do that. Play Fighter until you can unlock Mettle at Level 2. In this way, the game incentivizes experimentation and dipping into the various Vocations to, over time, customize your play experience to your liking. Here's a rundown of all the available Augments in the game, how to unlock them, and which are the best to choose for your Arisen.

Augment Full List

Dragon's Dogma 2 has a total of 47 Augments in the game spread out across the 10 Vocations. As you level up your rank in the various Vocations, you unlock the ability to unlock new Augments by spending Discipline Points (Dcp). Once you have reached the required rank and have acquired the Dcp needed, simply go to your nearest Vocation Guild vendor and tab over to the Augments section. There, you can spend the Dcp to unlock the Augment across all Vocations for your character.

Best Augments

The "best" Augments for your character is going to largely depend upon what Vocation you are running at the time. It's not a bad idea to more or less pick a Vocation to main as your go-to and then dip into various other Vocations to get the Augments that will benefit your playstyle the most. That said, there are some Augments that are universally useful. Here's a look at some of the very best:

1. Thew (Fighter Level 6)

Thew will grant you additional carry weight. If you find yourself constantly overburdened, which is a strong possibility, and you don't have a lot of difficulty with combat, consider acquiring this for use across all Vocations.

2. Endurance (Archer Level 4)

More Stamina means more actions that you can take regardless of your class, so consider dipping into Archer for Endurance to increase your maximum Stamina.

3. Beatitude (Mage Level 4)

Healing is scarce in Dragon's Dogma 2, so a universal buff to all curatives is helpful, especially if you're playing a class with higher HP.

4. Exaltation (Mage Level 9)

Stamina Recovery is always a boon in Dragons Dogma 2, so if you can suffer through almost maxing out Mage, then Exaltation is worth keeping on just about any other Vocation.

5. Voracity (Magick Archer Level 4)

Two Augments give you a buff when dealing a killing blow, and this one recovers some Stamina. More Stamina means more actions faster, which is always a win for you.

6. Gratification (Thief Level 4)

Coupled with Voracity, Gratification incentivizes you being the one to slay enemies. It restores a bit of health when you deal the killing blow. For any DPS class, these two make for a solid combo.

7. Verve (Thief Level 9)

Verve offers a straight-up bump to Strength, which is going to be a huge boon for any melee class.

8. Zeal (Warfarer Level 6)

Regardless of class, you'll be using many weapon skills. Zeal reduces the stamina consumed, a buff that's handy for any vocation.
