The Dragon's Dogma series is known for its elusive quest details. Often, it doesn't specify destinations, requiring players to engage with NPCs or rely on a pawn who has prior knowledge of the quest. Quest markers may appear if the location has been discovered. This time around we're taking a look at Tale's Beginning, the second quest in Dragon's Dogma 2.

Quest Description

You gained your freedom and crossed the sea on griffin wing, only to have your pawn companion swallowed up by the Brine. Now alone, you must seek aid and information.

Step 1: Follow Justinn

Justinn will lead the way to the stronghold. Follow along.

Follow Justinn up the path. Make sure to stop and open the chest and gather the pile of wood before moving on.

Step 2: Defeat the Goblins

You defeated the goblins, and learned a little of the basics of combat from Justinn along the way.

You'll stumble upon a total of six goblins on the path. They aren't particularly challenging. Use it as another opportunity to learn your class's moves and abilities. Make sure to loot the bodies for items and gold.

Step 3: Create Your Pawn

Making contact with the riftstone allowed you to summon your very own pawn, who will remain dedicated to your service throughout your adventure.

It's time to create your own pawn! Keep in mind that your pawn can be hired by other players if you have those features enabled. So make it count!

Step 4: Make for Melve

You have heard word that the dragon attacked Melve. Make for the village, and witness the aftermath for yourself.

With no memories, Justinn suggests we go to Melve.

If you poke around the village though, you can rest at the inn as the game recommends. Doing so will end this quest and start In Dragon's Wake, the next quest which starts by asking you to go to Melve.
