Enjoying the fantastical world of Elden Ring, but finding yourself wishing you could sort your inventory to more easily find whatever mystical gewgaw or widget you just discovered in that ancient ruin? Well, wish no more. The ability to sort your inventory is a frequently requested one on Twitter, and it turns out it’s already in the game.
Navigate to the inventory menu, and press in on the left stick. This will give you the option to sort by type (the default), number owned, or, crucially, order acquired. Selecting “order acquired” will organize your items from oldest to newest, with the most recently-acquired items at the bottom of the list. This is tremendously helpful for sorting out all your gear, and it’s something that even Fanbyte staff with hundreds of hours logged in the game weren’t aware of. Thanks to Fanbyte community member Fonk for the tip!
Anyway, that’s pretty much it. I put the important part right at the beginning so you could just read it, but Google likes for these kinds of pieces to be a little longer. That’s why you see people padding them out everywhere, just so you know. It’s not that we like doing that, it’s that the algorithm rewards it. Have you thought lately about how much algorithms control your life? It’s kind of scary. Anyway, we have some kind of algorithm that’ll recommend other articles you might like to you. I’m not totally sure how that works, but if you want some recommendations from me, a real human being, I can do that.
If you need more help with Elden Ring, check out our many, many guides. Our guides writers are the best in the biz, and they can teach you a lot. There’s no shame in using guides, either! I think FromSoft games are meant to be played with other people, and in a sense, using a guide is playing with another person across time and space.
Just started? Maybe you want to know where you can find some of the Best Early Spells. Or maybe you’d like to get some levels in before you take on some of those big bosses — god, Margit gave me so much trouble. In that case, here’s a guide to getting lots of runes. Further on in your adventure? In that case, we can tell you where to find the Moonveil Katana, how to get into Lenne’s Rise, and where to get the useful Comet spell.
If you’re curious what we think of the game, check out Imran Khan’s full review, titled “Elden Ring is Quite Simply a Masterpiece.” Or, you could read our EIC Danielle Riendeau’s piece on the game, in which she discusses playing Elden Ring like a 3D platformer. And lastly, if you’d like to join me and my original character Uncle Clambrose on our quest, you can tune in every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 5:30 Eastern over on Twitch. I would give some kind of a time frame on when the run will end, but let’s be real — this game is gigantic and I’m going to be streaming it until the sun swallows the earth.
