Final Fantasy XIV’s Tokyo Fan Fest is just days away, but even with a full schedule run down and itinerary of what’s going on, we still have no idea what exactly will be appearing or revealed at the event. All we know is that Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida will be getting up on stage and talking about Dawntrail in his Keynote.
That said, we do have a pretty good idea of what might happen. We’ve broken these down into pretty much confirmed, likely to happen, and completely out of left field. Either way, take a read of our predictions and see how many come true come Jan. 7.
Fan Fest predictions pretty much confirmed
Female Hrothgar

We’ve seen the mystery legs, we’ve heard the rumors, and the Encyclopedia Eorzea Volume III contained new information. Now we’re ready for the real thing. We’re not expecting Yoshi-P to walk up on stage in full Fem-Hroth cosplay (although, we wouldn’t be disappointed if he did), but at least give us some confirmation. Fans have been waiting for details on female Hrothgar for a while now, so it's almost guaranteed we finally get to see it.
New magical ranged DPS job

Traditionally, we’ve known both new jobs for each expansion well before release, with Endwalker’s Sage and Reaper getting unveiled on February 2021 and May 2021 respectively. Now, we already know about the Viper, and we know the other class is a Magical Ranged DPS. Fans think that the end of Patch 6.5's story might have left a hint at what it is.
Underwhelming graphical update screenshots

We’re going to see more pictures of Lalafell noses. Personally, graphical changes aren’t why I tune into these things, and seeing 10 percent more voxels or pixels or whatever doesn’t impress me. Still if this fan fest opens up with fans staring at the curve on a character's chin to try and figure out what’s different, it’s going to be severely underwhelming.
EU and NA fans get upset that Japan’s Fan Fest was “better”
Envy can be a terrible thing, and North American and European fans are inevitably going to feel a little aggrieved when a new job, new race, and new features are unveiled at this Fan Fest instead of theirs. And the symphony, goodie bags, performances, panels, and everything else will likely be better. Ultimately, Square Enix is a Japanese-based company, and it’s not shocking that the Japanese Fan Fest will probably feature more content. We’re just predicting people will still be salty about it.
Likely to happen, but could get skipped
MSQ details for 6.5X Patch and 7.0 release date
It’s been confirmed we’ll get some more Main Story Quest (MSQ) in the final patch before Endwalker, but details of what that might be are pretty thin. As a result it wouldn’t be a surprise to see some screenshots and maybe teasers of the next few MSQ missions. Beyond that, maybe some details of the 7.0 story. We already have a rough outline, so it probably couldn’t hurt to get a few more snippets of info. Fans are also hoping there's a release date past just the summer release window we currently have.
Details of the Dawntrail Ultimate

We know we’re getting at least one Ultimate in Dawntrail, and it wouldn’t be a spoiler to find out what it is. Odds on bet is for Eden to get its own Ultimate. That would be absolutely incredible, but since the Dragonsong Ultimate, we’ve learned that not only Raid tiers are on the table. We’d love to see a Sorrow of Werlyt or Meracydian gods Ultimate. But, honestly, any new Ultimate will make fans happy.
Echoes of Vana'diel Alliance Raid details
After being revealed at the London Fan Fest, we’d be surprised if we don’t see more of this super interesting collaboration with Final Fantasy XI. Beyond being the perfect way to cross-promote both of Square Enix’s MMOs, the Alliance Raid will give players a chance to experience a world oddly familiar, but slightly strange, and perhaps tie into the narrative of FFXIV’s world reflections.
Island Sanctuary part two Electric Boogaloo
The Island Sanctuary was one of the most anticipated pieces of content for Endwalker, and became an obsessive grind for many players who loved its mechanics. The cosmetics, mounts, and minions tied to the Sanctuary became market board favorites, and many of the pieces are still highly sought after. However, the Island Sanctuary didn’t become the social hub that many expected it to be, and perhaps new Island Sanctuary content, or another island, will help change that.
Completely out of left field
New “large-scale” content like Eureka or Bozja
In an unconfirmed and informal interview, on a Japanese Data Center, Yoshi-P reportedly answered “Yay, look forward to it” to a question about large-scale content like Bozja and Eureka for Dawntrail. As a result, we could see a teaser for this new content. However, given that Eureka and Bozja were revealed after the conclusion of the their expansion’s initial story, it could be a long shot.
Another restoration
We’ve rebuilt Ishgard, we’ve rebuilt Doma, now it’s time for Garlemald! It would only make sense, especially after the journey we’ve gone on with Alisaie and Alphinaud to make Garlemald finally accept help. Or perhaps one of the many other war-ravaged nations we’ve visited. Crafting and Gathering content can sometimes get a bit dry, and something like the Ishgardian Restoration gave people a competition and goal. And it’s nice to actually build something in a game rather than just kill monsters all the time.
New Limited Job

We found out at the London Fan Fest that a new Limited Job, like Blue Mage, was being added in Dawntrail. While most people are expecting to find out about the ranged DPS job, perhaps the Limited Job will be revealed. We love the expectation here that this could be beastmaster or geomancer, or something of similar ilk. Either way, it’s not super likely we’ll see this job revealed, but it could happen!
Tune into the Tokyo Fan Fest Keynote at 5pm PST on Jan. 6 (or Jan. 7 depending on where you live) to see what we did or didn't get right!
