One of the earliest problems in Final Fantasy XIV’s main story quests are Primals summoned by the various tribes (formerly known as beast tribes). You can’t blame them really considering all that humanity has done, but I suppose we’re not here for that. The actual consequence of all of this is a ton of grinding for you to do. Tribes keep growing in number with each expansion and you can only do so much each day. Because of that, it’s important to know which ones you want to prioritize. In this guide, we’ll list all of the known FFXIV tribes, how you can unlock each of them, and what the exclusive minion and mount rewards are. Plus, we teach you a thing or two about how the system works and when reset time is.
FFXIV Tribes Quest Info
Tribal Quests are a form of daily quest in FFXIV. Each of the 16 different tribes offers you a selection of three quests every day. For the five A Realm Reborn tribes, these quests will offer better rewards as you rank up your reputation with them. For the rest of the tribes, however, rewards are static, though the pool of quests does change.
Despite the large number of tribes to rank up, you are limited by an allowance of 12 total quests per day. That means, at most, you can help four different tribes a day. This allowance is consumed when you pick up the quest, not when you complete it. Meaning you can pick up 12 quests one day, complete them all the next, and then pick up 12 more quests that same day. To check your daily quest allowance, navigate to the Timers page by clicking the exclamation point in your button bar. Alternatively, the default hotkey is “Ctrl + U.” Towards the bottom of that pop up you can see how many allowances you currently have.
FFXIV Tribe Ranks
What ranks are available depends on when the tribe was added to the game. After Heavensward, Square Enix streamlined the experience somewhat by dropping two ranks from the progression.
- A Realm Reborn & Heavensward Tribe Ranks: Neutral, Recognized, Friendly, Trusted, Respected, Honored
- Stormblood, Shadowbringers, & Endwalker Tribe Ranks: Friendly, Trusted, Respected, Honored
You can check your ranks with each tribe, open up your Character tab (defaults to “C” key) and choose the Reputation tab. There you can select the expansion and see your reputation with the various tribes.
When Does the Tribe Quest Allowance Reset?
There are a lot of timers in FFXIV. For this particular activity, however, we’re looking at the primary reset which happens every day at at 3:00 p.m. UTC/GMT.
- Daylight Savings Time (Current): 8:00 a.m. PDT / 11:00 a.m. EDT
