How to Get Gold Ore in FFXIV's Island Sanctuary

All that glitters is not gold... but this is!

Final Fantasy XIV fans are enjoying a wide variety of new content with the release of Patch 6.5, and the Island Sanctuary has received a fair number of updates on its own. There are two brand new types of nodes to gather from, each of them offering two new resources. One of these is Island Gold Ore.

Players will be able to find these new gathering nodes in the new Island Sanctuary area, which is a section of the mountain cave system called the Mother Lode (X: 23.5, Y: 21.5).

Island Gold Ore is gathered from Yellowish Rocks, which are dark rocks with grayish-yellow gems sticking out. They're the only nodes that you can harvest from aside from the glowing crystals, so they're hard to miss. However, you'll need a new tool to gather this material: the Islekeep's Mythril Pickaxe.

Crafting the Islekeep's Mythril Pickaxe isn't too difficult, so long as you know where to gather the materials for it.

  • Island Iron Ore can be found in Rough Black Rocks, on the side of the mountain leading up to Sunrise Lookout (X: 26, Y: 20).
  • Island Resin can be harvested from Tualong Trees, which are found on the south side of the island, along the river (X: 21, Y: 25).
  • Island Mythril Ore comes from Bluish Rocks near Peak Point (X: 31, Y: 28).
  • Island Hawk's Eye Sand can be found in the Mother Lode alongside the Gold Ore itself, from Island Crystal Clusters.

As for what you can do with Island Gold Ore, it's necessary to craft the Island Chisel tool, which you'll need to gather Island Crystal Formations. Once you've done that, you'll have both of the new tools, and be that much closer to seeing everything added to Island Sanctuary with the new patch.
