How to get Trophy Crystals in FFXIV

Unlock those juicy PvP rewards with Trophy Crystals.

In Final Fantasy XIV, Trophy Crystals are a currency that’s used to unlock rewards from PvP, such as gear, weapons, framing kits, minions, and more. But unlike some of the reward currencies in FFXIV, you’ll need to put in a little extra effort to secure Trophy Crystals.

Trophy Crystals are rewards for advancing in the current PvP Series by earning PvP Series Experience. For each Series Malmstone, or level, you reach, you’ll receive 1,000 Trophy Crystals. The only exception to this are levels that contain alternative rewards, such as a mount or minion. These are usually levels five, 10, 15, 20, and 25.

To redeem Trophy Crystals, head to your PvP Profile and select the Series Malmstones button in the top right. Then, you’ll need to select and claim any Malmstones you’ve reached, which will reward you with the Trophy Crystals.

Once you’ve completed the current PvP Series by reaching level 30, you can still earn Trophy Crystals by continuing to level up your Series. There are infinite levels, so you can grind Trophy Crystals as much as you like.

Where to spend Trophy Crystals in FFXIV

Trophy Crystals are only tradable to the Crystal Quartermaster NPC who’s located at X: 4.5, Y: 6.1 in the Wolves’ Den Pier. This NPC sells weapons, gear, accessories, and other materials, all purchasable with Trophy Crystals.

Best ways to level up PvP Series and obtain Trophy Crystals

In order to level up your PvP Series, you need Series Experience. Series Experience is awarded for every PvP event, apart from dueling, but the best ways are through Crystalline Conflict matches, and your daily Frontline instance. You’ll receive more Series Experience if you win matches, but the minimum is 1,000 per instance. Depending on your PvP Series level you’ll need more experience, with 3,000 experience for levels under nine, up to 10,000 experience by the time you reach level 25.

Overall, the best way to level up is to play during active hours (evenings and weekends), and mix in your daily Frontline match with some Crystalline Conflict matches. If you’re looking for the most active PvP times of day, it’s also good practice to follow a PvP community, such as the PvP Revival community (formerly Revival Wings). That way you'll know when queue syncs (times when lots of PvP players queue together) and special events are happening.
