There are plenty of fish in the seas of Final Fantasy XIV, some of which, like the big fish, are more elusive than others. These big fish vary a lot in difficulty, with most providing a decent challenge for Fishers to tackle.
In order to lay claim to this vast bounty of the sea, players will have to take on the Fisher job, one of the three Disciple of the Land jobs. One of the big fish introduced with A Realm Reborn is the Armorer, a level 50 big fish that can be printed onto a large canvas. Knowing where to go, when to go there, and what bait to bring is essential to hooking one of these sea snails. Setting out without this knowledge can be a frustrating endeavor.
Where and when to find an Armorer in FFXIV
The Armorer is a deep sea fish, also called the Lord of the waters of Swiftperch. As its nickname implies, the Armorer makes its home in the Swiftperch fishing hole of Western La Noscea. Conveniently, this fishing hole is located right by the aetheryte.
Fishing for the Armorer should only be attempted when its requirements are met. You can only hook this fish with Northern Krill as your bait. There is no weather requirement, but there is a time requirement. The Armorer can only be caught between the hours of 7pm and 3am Eorzea time.
You can check the in-game time in your Character Configuration settings. In the UI Settings, go to the HUD tab and make sure to check Display server info. Beneath it, you can pick your clock types. If you ensure that Eorzea Time is checked, you’ll be able to see the in-game time on your HUD. This makes it a lot easier to see when you can catch the Armorer.
How to get Northern Krill in FFXIV
There are many types of bait in FFXIV, but the only one you’ll need in order to fish up the Armorer, is Northern Krill. Acquiring Northern Krill is as easy as going to a vendor. There are several vendors that will sell you this bait, and it is cheap to purchase so be sure to stock up so you don’t run out while you’re fishing.
An easily accessible vendor for Northern Krill is Syneyhil, located in the Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks area. He can be found close to the Hawker’s Alley aetheryte, in the middle of the western portion of the alley. The Northern Krill can be found near the top of his items list and costs 11 gil a piece
Once you’ve stocked up on bait, checked the time, and made sure you have enough inventory space, head to the Swiftperch aetheryte to try your luck. Using all of this information, you’ll have your Armorer before you know it.
