How to Get Islefish in FFXIV's Island Sanctuary

Increase Island Workshop profits with Islefish.

Final Fantasy XIV's Island Sanctuary provides players an opportunity to unwind by escaping to an exotic island and develop it using a variety of unique materials. While the Islefish isn't used to craft tools or construct buildings, various handicrafts made in the Island Workshop make good use of it, and experienced island-goers will recognize the important of keeping a well-stocked supply.

Although the Island Sanctuary leans towards the casual side of FFXIV, the Island Workshop introduces opportunity for dedicated players to optimize their workshop schedules to maximize Seafarer's Cowrie profits, and even convert those profits to gil. Players looking to try their hand at turning the Island Sanctuary into a gil factory will need to unlock their own island and increase its rank first.

Where to find Islefish

In order to collect Islefish, you'll have to first reach Sanctuary Rank 7 and craft yourself an Islekeep's Bronze Gig using three Island Logs, three Island Copper Ore, three Island Tinsand, and three Island Hemp. Once you've reached the required rank and obtain the appropriate tool, enter Gather mode and look for Large Shell gathering nodes found underwater. These nodes also provide you with Island Clams, allowing you to farm for both materials at the same time.

Large Shell nodes are only found off the coast of Pirate Bay, located in the northwest corner of the island, also found in the in-game Sanctuary Gathering Log. The area containing all the gathering nodes is submerged, so you'll have to dive underwater to access them. There are only 8 Large Shells available, meaning you'll have to gather from the neighboring Seaweed Tangle nodes too if you want to farm Islefish.
