Every expansion in Final Fantasy XIV introduces it's own version of a Relic Weapon, which are end-game weapon sets that boast impressive visual effects to their wielder. After the Zodiac Relic, Anima Relic and Eureka Relic you might've created in previous expansions, Shadowbringers brings forth the Resistance Weapons.
Much like the previous set, the Resistance Weapons are tied to a unique zone that uses it's own leveling system. This set is more forgiving than the Stormblood's, allowing multiple avenues of progression both inside and outside of the zone they are tied to. Farming is a lot more bearable when you're given a variety of options, but don't be mistaken, attaining these weapons is still most certainly a grind.
How to unlock Resistance Relic Weapons
The first step to obtaining your Shadowbringers Relic Weapon is to unlock the Bozjan Southern Front. This is a unique zone with its own leveling and progression system, and making progress in this zone will be the key to furthering your Resistance Weapon. The first step of your weapon will be given to you for free during the process of unlocking the Southern Front, through the quest î‚¿ Fire in the Forge. For each additional weapon you'll be completing the repeatable quest î‚¿ Resistance Is (Not) Futile by purchasing four Thavnairian Scalepowder, for 250 Tomestone of Poetics each.
The vendors that sell Thavnairian Scalepowder are as follows:
- Auriana in Mor Dhona (X: 22.7, Y: 9.9)
- Hismena in Idyllshire (X: 5.7, Y: 5.2)
- Rowena's Representative in Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X: 9.0, Y: 11.1)
- Rowena's Representative in Ul'dah - Steps of Nald (X: 9.1, Y: 8.3)
- Rowena's Representative in New Gridania (X: 11.9, Y: 12.3)
- Rowena's Representative in Foundation (X: 10.5, Y: 11.8)

What happens if I lose a Resistance Relic Weapon?
If you accidentally dispose of your Relic Weapon, fret not. You can get another copy of the base weapon by buying more Thavnairian Scalepowder, and completing î‚¿ Resistance Is (Not) Futile again for the class you lost your weapon on.
When you lose a Relic Weapon that's in progress, you'll have to redo the steps again from the start if you intend to finish the weapon. There is no way to retrieve a partially finished weapon once it is disposed of. You can, however, purchase replica weapons of any step you've previously finished if you just want to regain the glamour of a weapon you've lost. It is not possible to continue building a Relic from such a replica.
What about using Resistance Relic Weapons For glamour?
You can't place a Relic Weapon in the Glamour Dresser or the Armoire. If you want to use one of these weapons on your Glamour Plates, you'll need to obtain a replica from Regana in Gangos (X: 6.0, Y: 4.7). This NPC sells replicas of all the Resistance Relic phases you've unlocked, for a mere 1,000 gil each. These replicas can be placed into the Glamour Dresser without issue, and are also a way to keep the look of a half-done Relic without forcing you to abandon your current Resistance Weapons quest.
