Welcome to the longest part of the Zodiac Weapons grind — the phase that separates the Lalafell from the Lala-get-back-up. This guide will cover the Animus Zodiac Weapons, the fourth step of the weapons introduced in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. The journey has several phases, each offering a new version of the weapon, ending at the Zeta form. None of these weapons are best-in-slot anymore, so you’re purely doing this for your own satisfaction.

How to Unlock Your Animus Relic Weapon – Trials of the Braves

To start the next phase of your Relic Weapon quests, you’ll need to pick up the quest “Trials of the Braves” from Jalzahn at Hyrstmill in North Shroud (X: 29.5, Y: 19.6). This quest will send you back to Mor Dhona again to talk with Rowena, who will send you nearby to speak with G’jusana (X: 22.9, Y: 7.3). The quest will register as complete, but you are far from done.

G’jusana offers a total of nine books that you need to complete. You can only have one book at a time, and each one costs 100 Allagan Tomestone of Poetics. Once you have a book, it’ll live in your Key Items inventory. Each book is largely the same: you’ll have to kill ten specific enemies and finish three dungeons, 3 FATEs, and 3 levequests. These objectives are spread out over the same A Realm Reborn regions and encounters.

Completion of these objectives only counts when you have the Relic Weapon equipped. So you need to have it on when you kill each enemy and when you complete each Dungeon, FATE, or Levequest. For Dungeons, you can run them unsynced and equip the Relic Weapon for the final boss, but it’s best to just leave it equipped so you won’t forget. While the weapons are equipped, the required enemies will appear with a small circle icon above their heads.

When you complete a book, return to G’jusana and buy the next one. As a warning: If you haven’t completed a book when you buy the next one, you’ll have to redo all the objectives again.

Here’s a few other tips to keep in mind:

Certain Levequests are Grand Company Levequests, which means talking to a different levemete. The Grand Company levemete is usually close by.
If a levequest isn’t available, you may have to complete another one from the levemete. Upon completion, the correct levequest will appear in the list of available quests.
Certain FATEs are either quite rare or require a preceding FATE to be completed. Be prepared to wait. Some FATEs also require you to talk to an NPC to begin them. We’ll mark all of these in the list below.
Since you’re heading to the same regions in many cases, it’s best to separate enemies, FATEs, and Levequests into pre-region checklists. For example, complete all the Mor Dhona enemy, FATE, and levequest objectives while you’re in Mor Dhona, rather than completing any enemy objective and then moving to FATE objectives.

The nine books are actually the same across all jobs; all that changes is the stat you’re boosting. So, if you’re doing the Atma Relic Weapon quest on multiple jobs, be prepared to do all nine books over and over again.

Upon finishing the final book, it will remain in your Key Items inventory until you talk to G’jusana and pick the “Disposal” option. When you’ve finished all nine books, return to Jalzahn at Hyrstmill in North Shroud (X: 29.5, Y: 19.6) to complete the quest and gain the Animus Relic Weapon. When you talk with him, you’ll want to select “Relic Weapon Atma Enhancement”, and choose your weapon. You’ll also need to have another weapon equipped, as the weapon has to be in your inventory to be enhanced.
