The stars and firmament (pun intended) above Etheirys and Eorzea have played a pretty big role in Final Fantasy XIV, from heralding the end of 1.0 with the fall of Dalamud, to the entire job of Astrologian, and even having the gods of the realm represented in constellations. But FFXIV fans in Japan are being treated to a stellar experience as a trio of planetariums put on a special show based on the game.
From Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, Planetarium Manten (Ikebukuro), Planetarium YOKOHAMA (Yokohama), and Planetarium Manten NAGOYA (Nagoya), part of the Konica Minolta Planetarium group, will screen a special presentation called The Story of the Gods and Stars of Eorzea.
The unique show will reportedly “explain the constellations based on the mythology of the world of Final Fantasy XIV, Eorzea, and introduce the starry sky of Eorzea, which has many similarities with Earth.”
As part of the show, attendees will experience the night sky of Eorzea, with both a unique video display of the stars, and a night-time cityscape of Ul’dah. In Planetarium Manten (Ikebukuro), guests will experience an optical projector which will apparently cause stars to “rain down onto the audience seats.” Yokohama and Nagoya will be limited to an LED and video performances.
Beyond this, the event is reportedly voiced by none other than G'raha Tia himself, as the Japanese voice actor for everyone’s favorite cat boy, Yuma Uchida, will narrate the show.
It’s easy to get jealous of the things Japanese fans of FFXIV have: The Eorzea Cafe, the unique Fan Fest events, and the exclusive merch. But this planetarium experience is definitely one that stings just a little bit, because of how incredible and unique it sounds. You can find out details, and have it sting even more, by checking out the official website.
