Final Fantasy XIV is getting new lifestyle content with Dawntrail, and it'll be taking players to other planets. Island Sanctuary brought players their very own island to develop, and Cosmic Exploration will expand their horizons to the stars.
The new content was announced along with many other reveals at Final Fantasy XIV Festival in Tokyo, and from what was said about it, it seems that it'll be pretty expansive. The stars will offer all sorts of different scenery for players to enjoy, rather than being limited to just one location. Not only that, but it will let players cooperate. While it can be played solo, it is intended for players to work together to progress.
According to the presentation, the progress you make with Cosmic Exploration will have a direct impact on the planets that you visit. Players will journey to other stars and change them as they play. Its story will be separate from the Main Scenario of Dawntrail, however.
Based on the concept art shared by FFXIV producer and director Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida, which features characters mining with pickaxes and crafting on an anvil, there is a fair chance that it will share some similarity with past content such as the Ishgardian Restoration. At the very least, it's likely that crafters and gatherers will have an important part to play in restoring other planets. There are also some Loporrits present in the image, which could mean that they'll be integral in ferrying the Warrior of Light across space.
With time, players can anticipate more information about Cosmic Exploration to be released. It was stated during the Keynote that more information about it will be revealed at future Letters from the Producer.
