FFXIV Official Blog Reveals Additional Heavensturn Details

Fortunes and familiar faces return for Heavensturn 2024

Final Fantasy XIV is currently in one of its busier event seasons as the Starlight Celebration concludes and the New Year celebration of Heavensturn begins. While FFXIV players were able to see a few details of the upcoming event on Dec. 25, a new post on the official Final Fantasy XIV Blog has brought more information and images to light.

On top of a glorious, high-resolution version of the Heavensturn 2024 image (that would make an incredible desktop wallpaper), there are previews of the Heavensturn decor that will take over the upper decks of Limsa Lominsa, visuals of NPCs old and new, and more screenshots of the painfully cute Ryunosuke, the Chocobo chick in a dragon costume that seems to be the protagonist (or perhaps antagonist) of this year’s event.

Beyond this, the post confirmed that the annual fortunes told by the Omikuji NPC will return this year. The Far Eastern Omikujishi will appear on the Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks, near the Heavensturn event quest starting point. The fortune teller was one of the the central characters of Heavensturn 2023.

Heavensturn starts bright and early on Dec. 31, at 7am and continues into the new year until Jan. 15, 2024, 6.59am PT.

Heavensturn has been an annual event in FFXIV since its first edition 2011, missing only in 2013 following the release of A Realm Reborn. The event takes inspiration from the Lunar New Year (although it takes place during the Gregorian calendar’s New Year), and follows the Chinese Zodiac. 2024 will be the Year of the Dragon, and Heavensturn 2024 is themed accordingly.
