Square Enix Opens Pre-Orders For FFXIV Music Boxes

Listen to two songs from the excellent soundtrack with these music boxes.

We can all agree that the Final Fantasy XIV soundtrack is full of absolute bangers. Whether it’s the booming chorus of “Riding Home” in Shadowbringers’ “Who Brings Shadow,” or the mounting tension in Heavensward’’s “Heroes”, FFXIV is full of music that gets you emotional or hyped. Currently, you can listen to past soundtracks on Spotify, enjoy them in-game via orchestrion rolls, or connoisseurs can pick up the vinyl from Square Enix directly.

Now there’s a new option for two of the game’s tracks. Square Enix has opened pre-orders for tiny physical music boxes. Each one plays a single song, with its metal innards encased safely in a plastic shell with the FFXIV logo embossed on the top. Each box will set you back $17.99. Both are scheduled for release in November 2022, though Square Enix acknowledges that might change.

The first box has silver inner workings and plays “Night in the Brume,” the theme for Ishgard’s Foundation at night. The song was, of course, crafted for Heavensward by composer Masayoshi Soken.

The second box has its gears cast in gold and it plays “Torn From the Heavens”. This theme is the main theme from A Realm Reborn, composed by Masayoshi Soken and arranged by Soken, Nobuko Toda, and Yoshitaka Suzuki. It tends to be the song that represents FFXIV in other Square Enix projects.

Both boxes actually came out three years ago, so this is actually a re-release. If you want to get an idea of their physical dimensions and the quality of the songs, you can check out this video from MysticGamer. Perhaps if the re-releases do well, we can get boxes for the Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker themes! One can dream.
