Yoshi-P Highlights FFXIV's Biggest Milestones in Hilarious Fashion

How many corks have been popped in FFXIV? A lot, as it turns out...

Final Fantasy XIV’s 14-hour 10th Anniversary live stream kicked off on April 12, and while most tuned in for the Live Letter, one of the best parts was a surprising look into the numbers behind FFXIV. In a segment entitled "A Realm Resplendent with Warriors of Light", the game’s lead producer and director Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida joined community producer Toshio “Foxclon” Murouchi to showcase some of the incredible statistics relating to FFXIV.

The segment kicked off with Yoshi-P revealing that FFXIV had won 240 accolades before diving into even more numbers, such as revealing that the game had over 159 hours of cutscenes and 325 duties.

Perhaps some of the most interesting stats came from players themselves. According to a survey conducted by Square Enix, 34% of all FFXIV players started the game in Shadowbringers, making it the largest single period of growth for the game.

The most entertaining statistics came from the fact that FFXIV players have circumnavigated the globe with the amount of champagne, *ahem* we mean Realm Reborn Red corks they’ve popped. Also, Warriors of Light have drunk the equivalent of 54 million liters of potions. They’re bizarrely high numbers, but when you think about it, it’s not that surprising.

The presentation concluded by showcasing some fan-favorite mounts, minions, hangouts, and adversaries of Warriors of Light. This revealed that the humble Grand Company Chocobo was the favorite mount, the favorite minion was the Starbird, the favorite home point was (of course) Limsa Lominsa, and the favorite adversary was Hades, better known as Emet-Selch.

As part of the 10th Anniversary celebration stream, this segment was absolutely perfect in capturing the sometimes bizarre world of FFXIV. It could have easily been a boring number crunch of subscriber counts and statistics, but instead found some fun things to focus on. After all, FFXIV is a game, not an exercise in accounting, and that’s something we could all stand to remember occasionally.
