Progressing and exploring the world of LEGO Fortnite will have you visit inhospitable environments that house rare materials that you don't know you will need to progress even further. Brightcore is one of those resources you will find in an area that will have you do some prep work, some upgrading, and some crafting. Yes, that's a lot for newcomers. Here is how to get Brightcore in LEGO Fortnite.
How to Get Brightcore
Getting Brightcore in LEGO Fortnite will have you travel to the Dry Valley region. If you are playing in Survival mode, then you will have to prepare yourself for the heat of the desert. Otherwise, you will lose hearts fast once you step on the sand. Here are the recipes for the Cool-Headed Charm and the Snowberry Shake. They will provide a permanent and timed solution to the heat problem, respectively.
Item | Recipe | Effect |
---|---|---|
Cool-Headed Charm (Uncommon) |
| Increases resistance to hot temperatures. Adds 3 Hearts and 5 Defense. |
Snowberry Shake |
| Drink to heal and temporarily increase Heat Resistance. Lasts for 10 minutes and recovers 12 Hearts and 5 Satiety points. |
Crafting a Rare Crafting Bench and Pickaxe in LEGO Fortnite
Now that you can survive the heat, the next step is being able to mine the Brightcore. A base Pickaxe won't cut it, literally. In fact, you will need a Rare Pickaxe to do the job, which can only be crafted at a Rare Crafting Bench. Let's take a look at the resources necessary to upgrade our Crafting Bench to the Uncommon rarity:
- 8x Plank: Process Wood at a Lumber Mill.
- 3x Shell: Dropped from Rollers found in the Grasslands region.

Now, here is the recipe for upgrading our Crafting Bench to the Rare rarity:
- 12x Knotroot Rod: Visit Grasslands caves and mine Knotroot. Then, process it at a Lumber Mill.
- 15x Marble Slab: After collecting Marble in Grasslands Caves, process it at a Stone Breaker.
- 6x Sand Claw: Dropped from Sand Wolves in the Dry Valley region.
- 3x Sand Shell: Dropped from Sand Rollers in the Dry Valley region.

Now that we have a Rare Crafting Bench, we can finally craft the Rare Pickaxe we need to mine Brightcore in LEGO Fortnite. Here are the resources you need to collect to do so:
- 5x Cut Amber: Amber is found in the open in the Dry Valley region. Process it at a Stone Breaker.
- 3x Knotroot Rod.

Mining Brightcore in LEGO Fortnite
Armed with your Rare Pickaxe and your heat resistance solution, you can now step into the Dry Valley in search of Brightcore. Contrary to Amber which can be found out in the open all around the Dry Valley, you will need to enter a Dry Valley cave to find and mine Brightcore. But that's not all!

Brightcore is actually found in Lava caves, which are different from the normal Dry Valley caves. This will make this resource even rarer, so if you find a cave in the Dry Valley region, make sure there is lava and look for the Brightcore which will be close to it.

The final thing you will need to do is swing your Rare Pickaxe to mine the Brightcore. Pick it up and you will now be able to craft structures such as the Metal Smelter, which will unlock a whole lot more recipes for you to craft. Just don't fall in the lava, that stuff is hot and way worse than sand, contrary to what a star-related movie franchise protagonist and villain would suggest.
