Great news, villagers! Animal Crossing is back! With Animal Crossing: New Horizons it’s time, once again, to gather materials, build your house, and learn the ins and outs of the game. One of the first things you do is choose the layout of your island. Each time you start a new game, you’re presented with different options. Some may even have islands within the island! But sadly, once you’ve landed you may find you’re unable to cross the rivers. You likely had to compromise and just place your tent in a less than ideal place, especially since you haven’t explored yet! But now that you’ve unlocked the Pole Vault and can go anywhere, how do you move your tent?
Can You Move Your Tent in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?
Yes! You absolutely can, though it’ll cost you a pretty penny and won’t be available for a week or two after you’ve started your island.
Sorry, you’re just going to have to live with that temporary tent placement for now. Settle in and get into the flow of managing your island in the meantime. You’ll certainly need some extra funds, so do everything you can to save up some bells. Whether that’s digging up fossils, gathering fruits, or anything else you can think of.
How to Move Your Tent in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Before you can move your tent, you need to have unlocked the Resident Services building on your island. This is what Tom Nook’s tent is eventually upgraded to. To do that, you’ll need the museum, three new residents, and have built Nook’s Cranny. Once that happens, Nook will begin upgrading the tent into Resident Services.
Once it’s built, you’ll need to do some more waiting. After about a week Nook will provide you with the opportunity to move your tent. It’ll set you back 30,000 bells, however.
Keep in mind that you can preview your tent in any location before you move it to see what it’ll do to the surrounding landscape. Those trees, flowers, and other objects simply disappear, never to return.
If someone else is in the spot you want, you can also pay him 50,000 to move other resident’s tents or other island buildings. You don’t need permission to entirely upend their entire life for some reason so be considerate. Unless it’s Roald. Roald will just go along with anything. Isn’t Roald great?
Also make sure that you’re happy with the new location. As we just mentioned, this isn’t exactly a cheap endeavor. So unless you’re swimming in bells and finally out of Tom Nook debt™ be absolutely sure this is where you want your tent, and eventual house, to be. But hey, maybe you are swimming in bells.
