Infinite Craft is the latest element-combining game that takes an incredibly simple premise - combining the four basic elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water to create new objects and elements - and brings it to entirely new heights. Utilizing an AI to create inventive combinations and categories, Infinite Craft has hundreds of thousands of possible combinations and solutions to reach almost any creation that players can think of.
With such a huge pool of creations, it can be difficult to find the exact combination you'll need to create a specific result. With multiple solutions, one player might create the desired answer in five moves, and another may take 50 - that's the beauty of using AI to learn and grow the game.
How, then, can a player make a specific building block such as Grey? Don't worry - we've found one of the best ways to create Grey in Infinite Craft so you can continue using this versatile result as a combination.
How to Make Grey in Infinite Craft
One of the shortest paths we've found to make Grey in Infinite Craft requires only eight steps total, starting with nothing but the original four elements consisting of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. You'll need to take these four elements and eventually create Color and Ash, which, when combined, create Grey.

How to Make Ash in Infinite Craft
The first component for making Grey in Infinite Craft is making Ash. It requires only a few steps to create. The main reason to do Ash before Color is that, unless you already have Color unlocked, you can use Ash to make Color before combining them to make Grey.
All you need to do to create Ash is to first combine Earth and Wind to make Dust, then add some Fire to that Dust. Then you've got Ash.

How to Make Color in Infinite Craft
The second ingredient you'll need to make Grey in Infinite Craft is Color. This one's a bit more involved than Ash.
First, players should combine Water and Earth to make a Plant, then combine two Plants to make a Tree.

Now combine that Tree with the block of Ash you created before to make a Pencil. Add even more Ash to make a Crayon, then combine that with Water to finally get Color.

Making Grey in Infinite Craft
Combining the Ash and Color you created will give you the desired Grey — but why?

The final combo here, at least, makes a lot of sense. What in the natural world is always grey in color? Ash is always a slate grey, and considering the fact that the Infinite Craft AI generates Gem when you combine Rock and Color, Ash is really the only option. (Gem makes a bit of sense for Rock + Color, but shouldn't adding Color to anything just give you the color of that thing?)
The more complicated aspect of all this is getting Color. We've provided the fastest route above, which involves adding Ash to a Tree to get a Pencil. (Traditional Pencils have Lead, a metal that is found in ash along with many other metals.) Adding even more Ash to make a Crayon makes even less sense since Crayons are made of wax, so they do melt in hot water, reducing down into a puddle of color.
Take a look at the table below for a step-by-step breakdown of how to create Ash, Color, and eventually Grey in Infinite Craft. Note that, if you're looking for Gray instead of Grey, you have to merely add Crayon to Grey.
Item 1 | Item 2 | Result | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1. | Earth | + | Wind | = | Dust |
2. | Dust | + | Fire | = | Ash |
3. | Earth | + | Water | = | Plant |
4. | Plant | + | Plant | = | Tree |
5. | Tree | + | Ash | = | Pencil |
6. | Ash | + | Pencil | = | Crayon |
7. | Crayon | + | Water | = | Color |
8. | Ash | + | Color | = | Grey |
