I’m not going to lie, the introduction to some of Cyberpunk 2077’s systems are fine, but if you happen to forget or not really pay attention, it’s really hard to rediscover them. CD Projekt Red has hidden away the game’s informational database. Even if it’s easily accessible, there are tons of reports of players overlooking it. Regardless of whether you know where it is or not, you’re here to learn how to do the hacking minigame again, so we’re going to explain it.

How to Hack in Cyberpunk 2077
Let’s first just explain what we’re looking at here. The “Sequence Required to Upload” is the code you’re looking for to complete the hack. In this case, we want to select 55, 55, BD, and 55 in that order. The Code Matrix is the area where we’re doing our actual hacking. You see the first highlighted row that reads 55, 1C, BD, BD, E9? That’s the row that we’re currently on. You can only select one of those entries to start.
Clicking on the top right entry will select the 55 and add it to our buffer, moving us one step closer to completion. The puzzle part of this minigame is that the selection switches back and forth between rows and column. Because we selected the entry in column number one, our next number selection must come from the first column which now reads E9, BD, 1C, and 55. Obviously we want this 55, so now we select that.
Again the matrix switches back to the row that the last entry was in. So now we have BD, 1C, 1C, and 55, but we need BD for our matrix, select that. Then we have one more selection with 1C, BD, 55, and 1C. Since all hacks must be completed in the exact order, we had to have selected these specific numbers. You couldn’t have chosen BD as the first step, for example.
Keep in mind that you may want to look ahead before making a selection if there’s enough breach time remaining. If not, you may accidentally move yourself into a position where the next number you need isn’t on that row. This is okay, to be clear. You’re given a flub or two before you fail. Just make sure to select the wrong value on a row that actually has the entry you need.
For those of you who haven’t kept up with everything, there’s been quite a trail left by the release of Cyberpunk 2077. Earlier this week it came out that certain sequences in the game were using braindance segments which are well known to cause epileptic seizures. We’ve also covered how the developer was overworking its employees rather than delaying the game, inevitably, both ended up happening anyway. We also have a fantastic look at the appropriation of Asian culture in the title. And hell, if you just want more cyberpunk style games in your life, we have that too.
