Ghost Recon: Breakpoint Class Guide – Best Skills For Each Class

Are you struggling to decide on your career path in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint? Can’t choose between the long-ranged death dealing of a Sharpshooter or the up close and personal approach of an Assault? Well, have no fear because we’ve got a guide to help you choose your path and we’ll even help you pick the best skills for each class too.

There are four classes that you can choose from in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint – Field Medic, Assault, Panther, and Sharpshooter. Once you’ve chosen one of these classes, you can level it up by completing rank up challenges. To see what your current rank up challenges are, hover over your class icon on the Loadout page.

As you level up your class, you’ll unlock new perks and customization options that are unique to that class. You can change class at any time at the nearest Bivouac via the tactics screen. You can also unlock skills and perks from the upgrade tree. These perks are available to you regardless of which class you play, but some better suited to one playstyle or another. Now that we know how classes and skills work, let’s have look at the options.

Field Medic Class – Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

Dammit man, I’m a doctor, not a soldier.

The first option when choosing a class is the Field Medic, whose unique ability is the Healing Drone. The Healing Drone allows you to heal and revive downed squadmates from afar, enabling you to stay in the relative safety of cover while still helping the team.

The Field Medic’s class item is the Medkit, which predictably, heals your injuries and gives you an extra health boost on top. This is extremely handy when you need to throw caution to the wind and rush down an opponent, as the extra health can be the difference between life and death.

The Field Medic also has several unlockable proficiencies. These are:

  • First Aid – + 15% revive speed – unlocked at level two.
  • Pallbearer – + 15% movement speed and + 40% damage resistance while carrying a body – unlocked at level six.
  • Phoenix – can self-revive – unlocked at level ten.

Field Medic – Best Skills – Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

There aren’t many skills that benefit your ability to heal others, but there are some other skills that will synergize nicely with the Field Medic’s role as a support character. Since you’re probably going to be sitting further back and supporting your more aggressive colleagues, the drone upgrades in the Recon section of the upgrade tree are worth looking into.

Drone Cooldown lets you use the drone more often and Drone Range lets your drone fly further afield. Drone Visions is also worth looking into, as this lets your aerial accomplice use Night Vision and Thermal Vision, provided you have already unlocked those skills.

Assault Class – Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

If it bleeds, we can kill it. Even if it doesn’t bleed, we can probably still kill it.

For when you absolutely, positively have to kill everyone in the room, accept no substitutes. The Assault class is all about shrugging off bullets, killing dudes and blowing up tanks. With True Grit, the class has reduced recoil and a damage resistance buff. Additionally, any kills scored during True Grit will heal you and extend the duration of the technique.

The Assault’s unique item is the Gas Grenade, which leaves a cloud of toxic gas that damage enemies for as long as they’re within the radius. It’s perfect for dealing with enemies that are entrenched in cover.

The Assault also has two unlockable proficiencies. These are:

  • Resilience: + 50% maximum health and + 10% injury resistance – unlocked at level two.
  • Assault Proficiency: + 20% accuracy and + 20 mobility when using shotguns or assault rifles – unlocked at level six.

Assault – Best Skills – Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

There are two Assault sections in the upgrade tree, both of which contain some essential upgrades. Guerilla improves your damage resistance by 10% and health regeneration speed by 20% for every hit you land with a shotgun. Kill a few chumps in quick succession and you’ll basically be invulnerable for a short time.

To get even more tanky, grab the Cold Blooded perk which reduces your health regeneration delay by 30% and further improves your health regen speed by 100%. I’d also recommend unlocking the Rocket Launcher consumable from the Weapons section of the upgrade tree, as this will help you deal with any vehicles in your way.

Panther Class – Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

*Hums Pink Panther Theme Tune*

With a heavy focus on stealth, fast movement, and silent kills, the Panther is for those of you looking to live out your Rambo fantasies. The Panther’s class technique is called Cloak and Run. It throws down a smoke bomb at your feet, Batman style, allowing you to either sneak up on nearby foes or flee from a situation gone awry.

The Panther’s class item is the Cloaking Spray, which hides you from drones for a short while. Sadly, there’s no sci-fi cloaking technology here, so regular people can still see you, but being able to hide from the aerial menace is still a pretty sweet deal. Many of the enemy encampments are guarded by drones which would normally thwart your attempts to sneak up on a soldier for a quick stabby-stab – not a problem with the Cloaking Spray.

The Panther also has several unlockable proficiencies. These are:

  • In the Shadows: + 20 to your stealth stat, making it harder for enemies to spot you – unlocked at level two.
  • Swift Steps: + 10% movement speed – unlocked at level six.
  • Silent Death: Suppressors on handguns and submachine guns do not reduce damage – unlocked at level ten.

Panther – Best Skills – Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

The Panther is well catered to by the skill tree, with numerous key skills that will make your life easier and your enemies’ lives shorter. The Sixth Sense perk will automatically tag enemies within 25 meters, preventing any nasty surprises when you’re sneaking about. Slim Shadow is another great choice as it increases your stealth stat by 80 points and your agility by 10%. This means you’ll be harder to spot and can escape quicker when you are revealed. If you’re planning on going in Sam Fisher style with a silenced pistol, the Pistolero skill is also worth checking out. This increases your pistol damage by 20%, gives a 20% technique cooldown bonus, and offers a 40% XP bonus for kills with a handgun.

Sharpshooter Class – Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

Sniper? I barely know her.

And finally, we come to the Sharpshooter class. If you want to ruin people’s day at extreme ranges, the Sharpshooter is the class for you. Its unique ability is the Armor Buster, which gives you a clip of armor penetrating rounds for your rifle. This is perfect for dealing with tanks, helicopters, and even the heavier drones that you’ll come across in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint.

Its item is the Sensor Launcher, a nifty gadget that fires out a sensor, scanning and tagging enemies within a large radius. It’s perfect for scouting inside buildings, where the drone would otherwise be spotted.

The Sharpshooter also has two unlockable proficiencies. These are:

  • Deep Lungs: longer breath control while aiming – unlocked at level two.
  • Long Range Proficiency: +10% reload speed and +30 handling when using sniper or marksman rifles – unlocked at level six.

Sharpshooter Skills – Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

The Sniper section of the upgrade tree can be accessed by unlocking two skills in the Recon section. Once unlocked, all the upgrades in this section are worth grabbing. Ballistic Advantage gives you +60 range and +30 handling when using sniper rifles. Rolling Thunder buffs your weapon damage and damage to drones by 20%, letting you take out those pesky tattletales before they sound the alarm. Iron Lungs is also worth looking at, as it doubles the amount of time your breath control stays active.

And that’s it. You now know everything you need to know about the Class and Skills systems in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. Oh, and if you’ve gone down the path of the Sharpshooter, be sure to check out our How to Hold Your Breath and Other Sniping Tips Guide.
