Smash Ultimate has quite a lot going on beneath the surface. Between the byzantine character unlocks, incredibly dense World of Light mode, and endless references, you’d be hard-pressed to learn every single one of its secrets. And there are very few characters in the Nintendo multi-verse more mysterious than Sheik. The warrior is a Super Smash Bros. mainstay, even though they’ve only officially appeared in one game of their own to date.
Smash Ultimate sports 74 different playable characters at launch — including every single previous character from the super-franchise and a bunch of fresh faces. That’s not even including the glut of DLC fighters, assist trophies, and more. There’s so much that no one person could possibly keep track of everything. That’s why we’ve compiled a guide to every single character.

Sheik is a ninja-like battler from The Ocarina of Time. Of course, longtime fans know that this is actually an adult Princess Zelda with new, badass gear. That being said, Sheik doesn’t play much like their pink counterpart in Smash Ultimate. There’s far less emphasis on spellcasting and a whole lot more fantasy ninja trickery.
According to her official Nintendo description…
Now Sheik joins the battle wearing the Sheikah costume from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Keep the pressure on your opponent by using his speedy dash to quickly close in on (or get away from) your opponent!
Sheik Moves
Needle Storm (B) – Throws needles forward on the ground or diagonally downward in the air. Throws more needles if charged longer.
Burst Grenade (Side + B) – Throws a stealthy grenade that pulls opponents in before exploding.
Vanish (Up + B) – Throws a bomb to the ground and warps in any direction. Deals some damage.
Bouncing Fish (Down + B) – Flips through the air and strikes foes with her heel. If the kick lands, she bounces back.
Sheikah Dance (Final Smash) – Sheik charges forward and strikes an opponent in her path. Upon being hit, the opponent is surrounded by darkness, and Sheik unleashes multiple quick attacks. The final attack can strike other opponents as well.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths
Sheik returns in similar form to her Smash Bros. Wii U appearance, with a few noticeable upgrades. Her Up-B recovery move, like others’, no longer leaves her helpless in the air after use. Sheik is speedy and combo-oriented. If that sort of playstyle appeals to you, few do it better than her.
Weaknesses
Her weaknesses still amount to a lack of any single powerful move, and she’s lightweight, so opponents’ big hits are scary. While it’s easy to rack up damage, securing the KO as Sheik is a little harder. Be prepared for bouts to go longer than you might expect.
Shiek Changes
The most obvious change to Sheik is her outfit which has been updated to the Breath of the Wild design. According to leaks, she’s also received new voice over.
Sheik’s new Final Smash is Sheikah Dance. Like most finishers, if you land the initial dash Sheik will hold the opponent in the air through a flurry of dagger swipes.
Sheik Outfits
Sheik has her normal variety of outfits. All are just simple color changes, but one does look to emulate Link’s Tunic of the Wild appearance. A couple of her alternates even change her hair color. That’s more than we can say for some of the Smash Ultimate roster, at least.
And now you have the scoop on Sheik! The quick character might not hit hard, but they have plenty of tricky ways to deal with foes just the same. Good luck on your road to glory!
