The Stardew Valley 1.6 update introduces an array of new content and features, notably the Books of Power. These are a new item that you can get that gives you buffs to help you through Pelican Town and beyond. If you want to know how to obtain the Books of Power, this guide will tell you what you need to know.
How Many Books of Power Are There?
There's a total of 19 Books of Power waiting to be discovered. Some are repeatable, allowing you to benefit from their buffs multiple times. However, the ones that grant specific buffs can only be read once. The thrill of collecting them is in your hands, with various methods at your disposal. The primary way is to purchase them from the Bookseller or Dwarf vendors, but there are other exciting avenues to explore.
The Prize Machine in Lewis’ house also yields Books of Power, and you can get at least one book from this method.

Mystery Boxes also have a very small chance of dropping a book when you break them open. Alternatively, you can get them from farming Artifact Spots or as drops from killing a monster.
Out of all 19 books, you can get 13 of them from the Bookseller. However, the remaining books are either random drops of secret collectibles or they come from completing a quest such as getting a high score at SquidFest.
