How To Unlock the Mushroom Log Recipe in Stardew Valley
Compared to some other resources, Mushrooms have always been quite a difficult resource to obtain unless you have the Mushroom cave set up on your farm. With the use of the Mushroom Log, you can now regularly collect Mushrooms from it and have a steady supply of them.
To unlock the Mushroom Log recipe in Stardew Valley, you first need to start leveling up your Foraging skill. Once you get to level 4, you will then unlock the recipe to create the Mushroom Log.

How To Make a Mushroom Log
Making a Mushroom Log requires two different supplies. You’ll need:
- 10x Hardwood
- 10x Moss
Getting Hardwood is relatively easy, as you will have some Hardwood scattered around your farm. It comes from big Mahogany trees and large tree stumps. In order to harvest it, you will need an upgraded axe. If you find that you have none left on your farm, you can get the Hardwood from the Secret Woods near the Wizard’s Tower.
Moss is a brand-new resource that was added in 1.6. You can find it covering Pine, Oak, and Maple trees. It’ll be obvious when a tree has moss on it, as the tree will be covered in a green substance. To obtain it, hit it with any tool, and you’ll get the moss.
Now that you have the Mushroom Log, you can place it anywhere you like on your farm. However, for the best results, place it near wild trees, as it then has the highest chance of producing rare mushrooms, such as the Morel.
It can take quite a few days to produce mushrooms, so don’t be surprised if you don’t get any straight away.
That’s everything you need to know about how to make a Mushroom Log in Stardew Valley.
