Penny’s Daily Schedule in Stardew Valley for All Seasons

Want to make friends with Pelican Town's unofficial schoolteacher? Here's where you can find Penny at any time in Stardew Valley.

One of the many people you encounter in the quaint village of Pelican Town is Penny, the kind-hearted and nurturing schoolteacher loved by all. In this comprehensive guide, we detail Penny’s daily life including her routines and whereabouts throughout every season in Stardew Valley. Whether you're seeking to deepen your bond with this beloved character or simply curious about her daily activities, Penny’s schedule is here.

Where and When to Find Penny in Stardew Valley

There’s a frequency illusion at work with Penny. She’s most visible when she’s chasing Jas and Vincent around town, which can create the impression that it’s all she ever does, but that only makes up 4 days out of Penny’s week. She tutors/babysits Jas and Vincent on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

The rest of Penny’s week is free and is surprisingly complicated. Penny has a daily schedule like other villagers, but it features a lot of exceptions to her rules. It’s always going to be easiest to find her while she’s looking after the village's kids.

Penny explains her deal, in Stardew Valley.

As with Emily, Penny has few strictly mechanical benefits for anyone who befriends or romances her. She doesn’t offer any recipes or gifts through the mail at any relationship level. The only unique bonus from Penny comes after you marry her; at 14 hearts, she’ll offer to redecorate your farmhouse, which unlocks a couple of cosmetics that you can’t get any other way.

It’s worth mentioning that there's one big trap with Penny for new Stardew players: she loathes booze, which makes sense once you’ve met her mother Pam. Both Wine and Pale Ale are reliable go-to gifts for almost every other adult villager, but if you’re on autopilot and give either to Penny, it can lose you a lot of friendship points. She loves Melons and Poppies, though, so stockpile those in Summer.

Penny’s Spring Schedule

Penny lives in the trailer in central Pelican Town with Pam, next to the Mayor’s house and across the river from the Museum.

  • On Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays:
    • Penny leaves her trailer at 8 AM and goes to read in the park near the graveyard in Pelican Town until 12:30 PM.
    • She returns to her trailer to do chores in its kitchenette until 4:00 PM.
    • Penny then hangs out with Maru near (but not inside) the Stardrop Saloon until 6:40 PM, at which point she goes home and stays there.
  • On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays:
    • Penny takes Jas and Vincent to the Museum from 9 AM to 2 PM.
    • At 2, she loiters outside the Museum with the kids until 4:20, at which point she walks west to take them both home.
    • At 6:30 PM, Penny goes back to her trailer for the night.
  • On Saturdays:
    • Penny leaves her trailer at 10 AM to walk Jas and Vincent to the playground west of the Community Center.
    • She watches them play until 5 PM, then walks them home and returns to her trailer for the night.

Weather won’t disrupt Penny’s teaching/babysitting schedule, but if it’s raining on her days off, she’ll either stay home all day or spend her afternoon at the Museum.

Penny also doesn’t teach on Spring 9 or 23. If Penny is at 6 hearts or less, she typically goes on a walk through town around 11 AM and stays out until 4 PM before returning home. If she’s at 6 hearts or higher, she uses her usual day-off schedule.

As noted above, once the Beach Resort is open, there's a random chance that Penny will go there on her days off rather than stick to her usual schedule.

Penny’s Winter Schedule

  • On Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays:
    • If the Community Center has been fully repaired, Penny will hang out inside it between 10:30 AM and 6:00 PM.
    • If the Community Center has not been fully repaired or you signed on with JojoMart (you monster), Penny instead spends 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM reading near the graveyard or at the Museum.
    • After 6 PM, Penny heads to her trailer for the night and goes to bed at 9.
  • On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays:

    • She’s home and in bed by 8:00 PM.
  • On Saturdays:
    • Penny kicks around her house until 2:30 PM, at which point she takes Jas and Vincent to the playground in Pelican Town.
    • At 5 PM, she takes the kids down Willow Lane to drop Vincent off at Jodi’s house, then goes back to her trailer for the night.

Penny’s annual checkup is on Winter 4. She’ll spend 11:30 AM to 4 PM that day at the Clinic, then go home.

She also doesn’t teach on Winter 9 or 23. If Penny is at 6 hearts or less, she typically goes on a walk through town around 11 AM and stays out until 4 PM before returning home. If she’s at 6 hearts or higher, she uses her usual day-off schedule.

Penny also has Winter 15 off from teaching so she can attend the Night Market festival. She spends that whole day at home before heading to the Market at 4 PM.

As noted above, once the Beach Resort is open, Penny may randomly spend any of her days off there.

That’s about what you need to know with Penny. She’s just a small-town girl who likes kids. More importantly, somebody has to get her out of that horrible little trailer, one way or another, and it might as well be you.
