Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish dungeon is here, and it’s a castle full of treasure chests that reward you with loot and ones that are traps. Warlord’s Ruin takes your Guardian to an old Dark Age castle full of Scorn and Taken enemies.
Tips for Finding Secret Chests
It’s worth noting that several Scorn chests will appear throughout the dungeon, and only two of them are real secret chests. Though there is a way to tell the difference, the trick to know whether it is a secret chest is to wait and watch. If a dark blue aura glows around the chest, it’s a trap.
As with all dungeons before it, the loot from these extra chests will only drop once per character, per week, and the items are only ones that have been unlocked from the loot pool. Luckily, Warlord’s Ruin is farmable like every other dungeon, and you can still get more loot with multiple runs in a given week. Because of this, you may want to wait until subsequent runs to open these secret chests.
The secret chests in Warlord’s Ruin are, for the most part, completely different from how optional chests in past dungeons have appeared. The secret chests in Warlord’s Ruin will be different on each run of the dungeon, randomly chosen from several select locations. The first chest will be one of six strewn about the main path of the dungeon. The second chest will always be one out of several trapped chests, which you'll come across on the main route of the dungeon.
Warlord’s Ruin Secret Chest Locations
Below is a list of the six potential chest options along the beaten path. Keep in mind that the singular chest with loot can be any one of these six chests in a run, so you’ll want to check every chest to be sure. Luckily, they’re all very easy to find and aren’t as elaborately hidden as past raid or dungeon chests. Once you find the first correct chest, you can skip the rest and head to the second secret chest.
First Secret Chest
Possible Chest Location 1
Along the main path of the dungeon, just after the entrance, the path forward is dotted with small red flags that lead to the first encounter. Before stepping onto an old wooden bridge, there is a small cliff to the left. Jump there and turn left for the location of the first potential chest.
If the chest appears to be a trap, leave it and move on, or open it and experience the horror of a Screeb explosion.
Possible Chest Location 2
The second location is much later, after the first encounter and first boss, Rathil. After defeating the boss, you’ll be teleported into a dungeon within the castle where you’ll have to solve a puzzle to escape. The singular path forward leads down into a labyrinth that contains the next two potential chest locations. This path is full of traps, like spike pits and traps that jut out from boxes on the wall. Eventually, the path will lead to a staircase leading down.
At the bottom of the staircase, there is a fork dividing the path to the left and right. Take the right path towards a collapsed tunnel.
Squeeze through the debris, and at the end of the collapsed tunnel is the second potential chest location. Check it for traps, and then return to the fork and take the other path to progress.

Possible Chest Location 3
Immediately after the second chest location, there is a hallway leading to the next area, and along the right wall is a doorway to a small room.
Right inside the door, you’ll find the third chest. Check the chest for traps, and then continue down the hallway to progress.
Possible Chest Location 4
After escaping the dungeons and climbing more cliffs outside, there is a large castle rampart that leads up to the second encounter. Right along the center path, several of the Scorn appear on a large staircase. Past the gate at the top of the staircase is a small room.
On the right side of that room is the fourth possible chest location.
At this point, the second secret chest always appears in a room after the second encounter, check below to see how to find it.
Possible Chest Location 5
After the room full of trapped chests listed above, pass through the mountain outside onto several cliffs. To progress, you’ll find a small collapsed tunnel in a doorway, but go further around the mountain to see a cave entrance with two lights just outside of it. Jump to the doorway and turn around. Right across from it is a small cliff you can jump to.
On that snowy cliff looking out at the mountain peaks, you’ll find the fifth possible chest location.
Possible Chest Location 6
In the final ascent to the final encounter, you’ll enter a large outdoor area with broken cliffs and Strand Grapple points scattered across the sky. Right as you jump on the first flat mountain platform, there’s a doorway to the left, on the pillar-like mountain.
Turn left after passing through the doorway to get to the sixth and final possible chest location at the edge of the cliff.
Second Secret Chest
Immediately after the second encounter, and before the final two potential chests, there is a room that always has the second secret chest in it. After the second boss fight against the Locus of Wailing Grief, you’ll enter another cave that leads to a large room in the Blighted Keep full of treasure chests. Within this dark chamber of tall pillars and yellow banners, one of these chests is loot, but you just have to check them all for traps. Basically, find the one that isn’t glowing blue.
