Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer is here and it’s time to elevate your fashion game. Along with new weapons, a 6 player activity, exotics, story missions, and season pass, the heavily requested armor transmogrification feature is finally arriving. In this season, players will team up with the Fallen Captain Mithrax to stop the Vex from plunging Earth into total darkness. Similar to previous seasons, players will obtain an item called a Splicer Gauntlet that they can level up and use to decrypt new Umbral Engrams at the Prismatic Recaster in the H.E.L.M. However, to even effectively use the Splicer Gauntlet, you’ll need to start farming for ether. Here’s how to get this new resource and what it’s used for:
How to Get Ether
You can obtain ether by killing enemies, completing public events, and playlist activities such as Strikes, Crucible matches, and Gambit. This feature will unlock after you complete all the Season of the Splicer story missions this week and obtain the Splicer Gauntlet. Once obtained, you will be given some ether to start out with, but eventually, you’ll need to start farming your own. The easiest way to obtain a lot of ether is by playing the playlist activity listed on the Gauntlet next to the white exclamation point. Not only will you earn ether for killing combatants, but you’ll get a nice amount at the end of the activity.

The key is to farm in the Bonus Ether activity listed, that way you can ensure you’ll get a ton of ether to fuel your Gauntlet. If you don’t feel like participating in the playlist, you can always just farm Public Events. If you go this route I recommend going to either the EDZ or Nessus. Both almost always have a Public Event going and are very easy to get to thanks to the multiple spawn points. Finally, if you want to just kill enemies, head to The Dreaming City. Go into the Shattered Throne dungeon and work your way to the hallway full of Shadow Thralls. You can endlessly kill enemies here, which is great for both catalysts and ether.
As for Gauntlet upgrades, you should definitely pick up the Memory Expansion upgrade since this increases your ether carrying capacity. Additionally, Ether Filter will drastically raise the chance that enemies will drop ether when killed, which is extremely useful and should be prioritized early on. Given you’ll want to run the new Override activity to farm loot, being able to always open the second chest at the end is vital. I wouldn’t worry too much about hoarding ether, as you’ll be obtaining a ton of it throughout the season. So feel free to spend it and purchase keys in the Splicer Gauntlet so you can shower yourself with extra rewards.
