This Week in Destiny 2: Events, Updates, Ascendant Challenge – July 23, 2019

I started doing Raids in Destiny 2 this week and let me tell you, if I never see Gahlran and his dangerously small loincloth again, it’ll be too soon. One of these days I’m going to get him, I swear. In the meantime, the Iron Banner is back in town. Are you ready to get sniped by Lord of Wolves from across the map? I know I am!

Otherwise, it’s another relatively quiet week. Solstice of Heroes is launching soon, but in the meantime, you can work on getting your set of Iron Banner armor and grinding out Valor and Glory in the Crucible. Or you can just keep beating your head against a Raid boss that seemingly will not die, like me. Please send help.

More Destiny 2

Destiny 2 Weekly Reset

With another weekly reset comes the regular rotation of activities:

  • This week’s Flashpoint is on Nessus
  • Nightfalls are The Pyramidion, Strange Terrain, and Savathun’s Song
  • The Strike Singe element is Arc
  • The featured Crucible playlist is Iron Banner!
  • The Dreaming City curse is at its weakest
  • The Menagerie boss is Arunak, Hive Ogre
  • The Escalation Protocol boss is Naksud, the Famine (who has a pretty good chance of dropping the IKELOS Shotgun)

Destiny 2 Iron Banner is Back

Lord Saladin rolls into the Tower this week, bringing his trademark Crucible playlist, Iron Banner. And no, Lord of Wolves still hasn’t been nerfed. At least you’ll get a neat emblem and triumph out of it, and there’s a Valor boost this week too.

If you’re working on the Iron Banner armor quest, check out our Iron Banner Season 7 Quest Guide. Also, if you’re still trying to get the Crucible pinnacle weapon Revoker, you should know that sniper kills in Iron Banner will get you more points than in Quickplay or Rumble. Of course, you’ll still have to play Competitive to grind out that Glory.

Destiny 2 Ascendant Challenge

Destiny 2 Ascendant Challenge — July 23, 2019

This week’s portal is mercifully one of the easiest to reach. Just spawn in the Divalian Mists and immediately turn around to enter the Bay of Drowned Wishes Lost Sector. The portal is inside. Just hug the right-hand wall as you enter. You can’t miss it (assuming you’ve become Ascendant with the Tincture of Queensfoil).

This is arguably the easiest challenge to complete, too. All you need to do in this giant abyss is follow platforms all the way down to the bottom. That’s… really it. You can see the main, lit platform you need to reach if you look carefully. So just make your way down slowly. Be careful, as some of the platforms do rotate, but it’s easy enough to predict.

Kill the two wizards that spawn after you reach the final area. As with most Ascendant Challenges, it might help to have a friend or two. You get kicked out of the portal if you die, but allies can save your progress until you return.

Once the wizards are dead, the loot is yours. Congratulations!
