How to Increase Carry Weight in Dragon's Dogma 2

Here's how you can increase your maximum carry weight capacity in Dragon's Dogma 2, both temporarily and permanently.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is finally upon us, marking the arrival of one of the biggest fantasy RPGs yet this year. The arrival of the sequel to Capcom's 2012 hit game has all of us excited, but it also has some of us confused. If you've not played the original Dragon's Dogma yourself or are a longtime fan simply unfamiliar with some of the newer mechanics, the second entry in the dragon-slaying series may leave you lost or wondering about its features and how they function. The way that Dragon's Dogma 2 carry weight works and how you could go about increasing its maximum capacity is one such topic that is sure to come to mind.

Carry weight capacity often feels restrictive, and that's not a sentiment exclusive to the Dragon's Dogma 2 experience. In most RPGs, we're constantly looking for ways to increase the amount of weight that we can carry with us so we never have to leave behind any valuable loot. There's also nothing more relaxing during those times between boss battles and general combat than freely exploring a fantasy world's diverse regions and stopping to pick ingredients or materials up as you please without worrying about how much you can carry.

With a map that's almost a whopping four times bigger than the original game's, Dragon's Dogma 2 sees this ring especially true. Thankfully, there are actually a couple of different methods you can use to permanently and temporarily increase your max carry weight capacity in-game. One of these is entirely new to the series, taking shape in the form of shiny collectibles known as Golden Trove Beetles that you'll find throughout your journey all over the world.

Whether you're wondering how you can increase your max Dragon's Dogma 2 carry weight forever or just for a short while with equipable items, we've got you covered here with how you can lug more items around and not always need to send them to your Pawns or keep them in your far less accessible storage. If you want to temporarily see your carry weight increase without having to search for the new Golden Trove Beetles, you can opt to wear accessories such as rings that raise your maximum capacity.

The items that increase your carry weight as long as they're equipped usually come with different levels of "potency," so to speak. For instance, the Ring of Profusion you receive as a reward for turning in at least 70 Seeker's Tokens harbors a description that explains how the accessory "moderately" increases your carry weight capacity. In contrast, the Ring of Triumph that you obtain as a reward for handing in just 15 of the Seeker's Tokens provides a "slight" boost for your maximum carry weight. Aside from turning collectibles like Seeker's Tokens in, you'll find shops, traders, and vendors selling such capacity-increasing accessories.

If you'd rather snag permanent carry weight buffs while you explore the luscious woodlands surrounding Vermund, the red ruinous lands around Battahl, or elsewhere, you can do so in Dragon's Dogma 2. Unlike in the original game, the sequel comes with a new mechanic that serves to permanently increase your carry weight. This feature is that of the Golden Trove Beetle, a sparkly little scarab that lives upon the bark of trees all over the RPG's massive map.

You'll find these scuttle-y small guys resting in random areas on trees, often glowing quite bright. This makes it easy to see them, especially at night, as they shine amid their surroundings. Once you pick one up, you can use it through your inventory to permanently increase your maximum carry weight capacity by an additional 0.15 kg. This amount never changes, which means that you can boost your inventory space by 0.15 kg with each Golden Trove Beetle you find and subsequently consume.

You can also opt to have your main Pawn use these Golden Trove Beetles to boost their own maximum carry weight capacity. This is especially helpful if you prefer offloading your heavy items to your Pawn rather than carrying the objects around yourself. Golden Trove Beetles are plentiful, too, which means that you can always mix it up and use some on your own while later giving a few to your Pawn for more Dragon's Dogma 2 carry weight capacity across the board.
