How to Get the Martial Artist’s Gear Set in FFXIV

You've practiced martial arts, now dress the part with this gear set!

One of the unique new gear sets added in Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.5 was the Martial Artist’s set. Comprised of the Martial Artist’s Vest, Martial Artist’s Slops, Martial Artist’s Pumps, and optionally, Martial Artist’s Sleeveless Vest, this gear set is akin to a traditional Tai Chi uniform.

Naturally, since players (especially Monk players) have been clamoring for some real martial arts gear sets for some time, this new outfit is highly sought after. Luckily for those with gil, it won't be too hard to get.

How to get the Martial Artist’s gear in FFXIV

All four pieces of the Martial Artist’s gear are craftable pieces of gear. They’re also tradable and marketable, meaning you can find them on the market board. However, like other highly sought-after crafted gear, like the Rebel Coat and Southern Seas Shirt, the price is usually millions of gil.

If you’re not a gillionaire, you can craft them. To craft the Martial Artist’s gear you’ll need to be level 90, and have unlocked Master Leatherworker X recipes for the Pumps, and Master Weaver X recipes for everything else. The recommended Craftsmanship level is 3700, otherwise, you might struggle to complete the craft. Below are the recipes for each item.

How to get Athletikos Cloth in FFXIV

Athletikos Cloth was a new material added in Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.5 as an ingredient in the Martial Artist’s gear set. There’s several ways to obtain it, but none of them are easy or cheap.

The first is in the treasure chests left behind after you clear a Kumbhiraskin Treasure Map or Ophiotauroskin Treasure Map. Defeating all the enemies that appear when you activate the Treasure Map will give you a small chance to obtain some Athletikos Cloth, split with other members of any party you may have.

Secondly, Athletikos Cloth is now a possible reward from chests in the Excitatron 6000 and the Shifting Gymnasion Agonon Treasure Hunt dungeons. If a random dungeon appears after you’ve used a Kumbhiraskin or Ophiotauroskin Treasure Map, you have a good chance of finding some Athletikos Cloth.

Finally, Athletikos Cloth is tradable and marketable, so you can find it on the market board. However, due to the difficulty in obtaining it from Treasure Hunts and associated dungeons, you should expect it to sell for several million gil for the foreseeable future. Treasure Hunt crafting materials rarely drop in price and are always very sought after.
