How to Unlock the Bozjan Southern Front in FFXIV

A map for those on the hunt for the Southern Front.

Final Fantasy XIV has shown its fair share of battlefields for the Warrior of Light to fight through and prove themselves in combat. One particular battlefield takes mettle quite seriously — the Bozjan Southern Front.

Introduced in the Shadowbringers expansion's Patch 5.35, the Bozjan Southern Front is a large-scale instance for up to 72 players. Here, Warriors of Light assist the Bozjan Resistance in taking back their homeland from the Imperial Legion through quests and participating in unique FATEs known as Skirmishes and Critical Engagements. Defeating enemies can also reward an instance-specific currency known as Bozjan Clusters that are exchanged for rewards such as mounts, minions, and gear.

While participating in the battles in the Bozjan Southern Front plays an essential part in obtaining the Relic Weapons of Shadowbringers, the content is optional, meaning players may miss it entirely and need help knowing where to look if they want to participate.

How to unlock Bozja in FFXIV

Before heading out onto the southern front, you'll need to have met a few requirements that link back to content from Stormblood. The first quest required on the road to Bozja is "Hail to the Queen," which kicks off the Resistance Weapon storyline and introduces Bozja itself. This quest requires clearing Stormblood's Return to Ivalice questline, including its three Alliance Raids, The Royal City of Rabanastre, The Ridorana Lighthouse, and The Orbonne Monastery.

The Resistance Weapon storyline progresses through the following quests:

After completing "Fire in the Forge," you can now access two new quests. The first is "Resistance Is (Not) Futile," which starts the progress of your first Resistance Relic Weapon. Since these weapons have close ties to content found within the Bozjan Southern Front, it would be wise to take this before diving in.

The final quest that grants access to the Adventuring Foray is "Where Eagles Nest," taken from Marsak in newly unlocked Gangos (X: 6.4, Y: 5.7). However, you won't be able to access it if you have yet to complete the Post-Shadowbringers Main Scenario Quests of Patch 5.1 that ends with "Vows of Virtue, Deeds of Cruelty."

Once "Where Eagles Nest" is complete, you'll receive a notification indicating that the Bozjan Southern Front is now unlocked and can be accessed by speaking to Sjeros at Gagnos (X: 5.5, Y: 5.4). You can enter solo or as a party, though parties can later be formed in the instance. With Bozja now unlocked, you can work on progressing the stages of the many Resistance Relic Weapons that Shadowbringers offers and earn Bozjan Clusters for unique rewards only found within the southern front.
