Where to Mine Darksteel Ore
Darksteel Ore can only be obtained from a single, timed node in the Coerthas Central Highlands around (X: 27, Y: 20). At a high enough level, you can feasibly earn about 50 ore per trip. Your primarily limitation is the node is only active from 1:00 AM to 4:00 AM every in-game day. Keep in mind that 24 hours in-game takes about one hour and ten minutes in real life.
Make sure you have a Miner Gathering skill of 51 and a Perception of 320 or more to mine this node.
Retainer Ventures
You can send a Mining Retainer on a 40-minute venture to obtain Darksteel Ore on your behalf. It does require them to be Level 50 and have 140 Gathering Skill, however. How much you obtain depends on their Perception rating.
