We wait for Final Fantasy XIV to come back from maintenance. When it does, we’ll have started patch 6.0, also known as the Endwalker expansion. It’s a time for anticipation and excitement, male Vieras, new jobs, and our journey to the moon.
Speaking of the moon: To celebrate the occasion, Square Enix has released a new music video collaboration with Sia. The video is a remix of “Fly Me To Moon,” a song originally performed by Kaye Ballard. It was popularized with a 1964 version by Frank Sinatra and Count Basie, and later from its inclusion as the ending song for Neon Genesis Evangelion.
The new version is remixed with parts of the “Prelude” track that is frequently used in many FFXIV songs. As the song continues, it traces the path of the Warrior of Light through the various expansions, starting in the original iteration and finishing in Endwalker. The bookends of the video feature a new female Dark Knight; perhaps with Endwalker, we’re retiring the standard Midlander Hyur male and replacing him with a female counterpart?
It’s a small pit stop on the way to Endwalker! While you’re waiting, you can read up on all the important details from the Patch 6.0 patch notes, see how Square Enix is planning to address day one server congestion, speculate why the pre-A Realm Reborn trailer was recently uploaded to the official YouTube channel, or lament not getting all your Endwalker prep work done.
Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker is coming to PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on Dec. 7, 2021. Early Access begins tomorrow, December 3, for those that pre-ordered.
