Final Fantasy XIV fans have yet another seasonal event coming up very soon: Heavensturn. This one comes right off the heels of this year's Starlight Celebration. On Dec. 31 at 7am PST, players will be able to ring in the new year in the usual FFXIV fashion with a new item and festivities brought all the way from the Far East. The event will be running until Jan. 15.
Heavensturn is always themed after the associated Chinese zodiac of the upcoming year, and this one is no different. Since 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, fans can look forward to an event themed around the animal. Not only that, but it seems players will be receiving a limited-time minion called Ryunosuke for participating. It's a chocobo chick, like a handful of other existing minions in the game, but this one is set apart by a little dragon costume. According to the item's description, the starry-eyed bird thinks he's actually a dragon.

When it comes to getting the celebration started and getting your minion, it's pretty simple. When the event period begins, you'll need to head to Limsa Lominsa. Go to the Aftcastle aethernet shard, and head over to the NPC named Ryu Metsuke (X: 11.5, Y: 13.9) to get the seasonal quest "To Be a Mascot". Going through a brief line of quests should earn you your Ryunosuke minion.
Last year, fans were able to experience omikuji, a tradition that involved drawing random fortunes for the New Year. Hopefully the game's developers have planned another fun surprise for this year's festivities.
