Fortnite Season 8, Week 4 Challenges: Pirate Cannons, Buried Treasure

Happy Orb Day, everybody!

Do you, as an individual, properly understand and appreciate the importance of Orb in our daily lives? Have you taken the time to imagine what life might be like, without the miracle of Orb? Land at Tilted Towers, etc

Remember when you did this last time? Well get ready to do it again! Forever! With as boring as it can be to see repeat use of the same challenges, we do appreciate why it keeps showing up. This challenge is easy to accomplish, and it helps ensure that people are making use of the entire map, which is important! Just do what the map says and you’ll be fine. Next!

Use the Baller in 5 different matches

Epic, in its wisdom, reduced the spawn rate of the Baller by 50 percent (effective yesterday), most likely to teach us all an important lesson about taking Orb for granted. Orb is ever-present in our lives, but we must also seek out Orb at every opportunity. We cannot assume that Orb will always be there to handle our mistakes — we must learn what life is like without Orb to truly appreciate what it does for us. The map above shows potential spawn locations for Orb; may you all find Orb in your own way. Orb.

Get an elimination with a scoped weapon and a suppressed weapon

Because every Weekly Challenge guide might be someone’s first, allow me to reiterate the backbone of StormShield Challenge Theory: If a challenge asks for eliminations or damage with a specific weapon, get it done in an LTM with respawns enabled. For most weeks, including this one, that’ll be Team Rumble. Spend the first entire circle looting for the guns you need, and the rest of the match taking shots. This week’s update buffed the Scoped Assault Rifle, so your odds with that will be slightly better than they were previously. As for suppressed weapons, we find the Suppressed Pistol to be an absolute beast in close-quarters combat (CQC).

Launch yourself through 25 structures with a Pirate Cannon

This sounds like a lot of launching, and it is, but we’re also pretty sure that each individual piece you break will count as a unique structure for this challenge. Meaning, if you launch yourself through an enemy fort and collide with two walls and a floor, you’ll get credit for three structures towards the challenge. The map above has approximate cannon locations for this week, but remember that cannons can be moved around by anyone, so there’s no guarantee that someone won’t have already stolen the cannon you’re after. The later half of Team Rumble matches tend to produce extremely large forts, so if you can set up a cannon near one of those, you should be able to knock this out without too much trouble.

Search buried treasure twice

In order to search buried treasure, you’ll first have to find a map, which is just a matter of luck. Buried Treasure maps spawn from chests and very occasionally on the ground, so just keep an eye out and eventually this’ll take care of itself. Just don’t pass up an opportunity to find treasure! If you get a map and think “I’ll take care of this in a bit” you are guaranteed to be killed before that happens.

Eliminate 3 opponents at Happy Hamlet or Pleasant Park

As we covered in last week’s nearly identical challenge, there are three ways to go about doing this one. You can drop to these specific locations in Solos and hope that other people are doing the same to finish their challenges. This requires you to be very good at tense, early-match encounters. You can also play respawn LTMs like Team Rumble and hope that the circle focuses on one of these two locations, but that’s very time consuming. Or, you can just ignore this one, and let it take care of itself over time, as you will surely get three eliminations at one/both of these locations over the course of Season 8. The main downside of this final method is that it prevents you from unlocking this week’s Hidden Banner, which requires that all previous challenges be completed.

Outlast 60 opponents in a single match, etc

If there’s one thing we here at StormShield are actually good at, it’s turtling our way to the top 20 in solos. The trick, at least in Solos, is to do everything you can to avoid as many other people as possible. Drop to the furthest possible location from the very end of the bus route. Find a quiet location to hide in until the circle starts moving in, and only then proceed to the next circle. Rinse and repeat. You may not win, but you’ll definitely outlast most of the people who are out there actually trying to play Fortnite.

Hidden Banner

Since this is an even-numbered week, a hidden banner will appear once you’ve completed all of this week’s challenges, as well as the ones from previous weeks. The banner waits atop a brazier on the North side of the volcano, as shown above. Remember that it cannot be seen until you’re within a couple of tiles!
