Minecraft Create Mod Tree Farm Guide - Step-by-Step Simple Set Up

After downloading the Minecraft Create Mod and booting it up for the first time, chances are you’re a bit overwhelmed. Unless you’re super experienced with redstone and are used to setting up chains of logic, it can all be a bit confusing. On top of that there are a bunch of new resources, items to craft, and things to gather. In this guide, we’ll help you do one of the most popular first projects for new players: setting up a simple tree farm in Minecraft.

As a forewarning, this is literally the most simple tree farm you can put together. In this build we will create a rotating arm of saws that pick up and store the logs, sticks, and saplings that are dropped as trees are cut down. It will not plant saplings for you as that adds another layer of complexity to the build. The optimal outcome is one where you can plant a grid completely filled with saplings that are automatically felled as they grow, leaving room for the surrounding saplings to grow in return.

Is it an infinite farm? No. But it is one where you can grow and harvest 20-30 trees without having to babysit them or cut them down by hand.

Minecraft Create Mod Simple Tree Farm Resources

We’re going to assuming you’re building this in Survival Mode and need to gather some things first. As nice as it is to just see someone put everything together in other guides, it left me struggling to figure out what I actually needed to get started.

Raw Resources Needed

Here are all of the basic resources you need to construct all of the Create Mod contraptions for this build.

• 1 Block of Iron
• 2 Stripped Wooden Log
• 6 Andesite Casings
• 6+ Slime
• 7 Iron Ingots
• 9 Wooden Slabs
• 12 Iron Sheets (Created by crushing Iron Ingots in a Mechanical Press)
• 15 Wooden Logs
• 22 Wooden Planks
• 38 Andesite
• 38 Iron/Zinc Nuggets (1 Shaft Left)

Got all of that? Okay, now turn all of that into the following components.

• 1 Water Wheel
• 1 Mechanical Bearing
• 1 Vertical Gearbox
• 1 Radial Chassis
• 1 Water Bucket
• 1 Depot
• 4 Linear Chassis
• 4 Mechanical Saws

• 2 Chests

How to Build a Simple Tree Farm Using Minecraft Create Mod

Before we get into the complicated details, here is a step-by-step process.

1. Create a Water Wheel.
2. On one side, hook it up to a Mechanical Press so we can make our Iron Sheets.
3. Put a Depot two blocks below the Mechanical Press.
4. On the other side, ten or so blocks away, hook it up to a Vertical Gearbox.
5. Hook that up to a Mechanical Bearing.
6. Add a Radial Chassis.
7. Sticky one side of the Radial Chassis.
8. Add four Linear Chassis on that side.
9. Sticky four of those Linear Chassis on the front side of the arm.
10. Add the four Mechanical Saws.
11. Sticky two of those Linear Chassis on the back side of the arm.
12. Attach the two Chests.

That’s it! The whole process is remarkably simple. If you need more help than that, we’ve got more detailed explanation below.

Step 1: Generating Power with a Water Wheel

There are multiple sources of power in the Minecraft Create Mod, but a water wheel is the most straightforward and intuitive for most. To create one, just follow the graphic above. No need to worry about that box at the end, the Shafts don’t actually have to connect to anything at this point. You can also use any kind of blocks around the Water Wheel, there’s no reason to use the chassis-looking blocks like in the example above. Literally just place the water block, place down the Water Wheel, and attach Shafts to both sides. That’s it!

Step 2: Creating Iron Sheets

To keep things simple, on one side of the Water Wheel, opposite the direction you want the tree farm to be, attach the Mechanical Press directly onto the Shaft. Put the Depot below the Mechanical Press, leaving one block of air between the two. Now you can place down your Iron Ingots and flatten them into Iron Sheets. If you put down a stack of Iron Ingots, only one will be converted into an Iron Sheet.

Step 3: Making the Connection

In the other direction, extend the Shaft to as far away as you want your farm to be. Keep in mind this is going to be a rotating arm so you will likely need about ten blocks of separation from the Water Wheel. When you’ve reached the point where you want the arm to rotate from, place down a Vertical Gearbox so you can switch directions, attaching a Shaft going upward. On top of that Shaft, place a Mechanical Bearing which is an on/off switch for the rotation. Thankfully, it comes pre-slimed so we can simply plop down a Radial Chassis on top.

Step 4: Building the Arm

The last step is to put together the actual arm of the machine. Take your Slime and sticky one side of that Radial Chassis before attaching four Linear Chassis blocks on that side. Make sure the bright sides are facing outward and not upward. You should have a dark brown strip going down the length of the arm as in the picture above. After that, turn on the machine (by interacting with the Mechanical Bearing) to see which way it’s going to rotate. On the front side, again use the Slime to attach four Mechanical Saws. On the back side, attach two Chests to hold all of the materials.

After that, you’re all set! Start planting Saplings and the arm will cut down and gather the resources as it goes.

All you have to do now is check back periodically to gather the resources and plant more Saplings. We recommend filling every single block the arm can reach with a Sapling so you don’t have to place them down as much.
