The groovy new action/adventure game Deathloop has finally been released. Developed by famed developers, Arkane Studios, Deathloop is all about attempting to kill eight targets in a single day. This is easier said than done since death will send you back to the start of the day. Taking inspiration from the rogue-lite genre, Deathloop is all about dying and using the information gathered to improve your performance. During your journey, you will gain a suite of powerful abilities and weapons that can obliterate your foes. However, some powers won’t be unlocked until much later in the game’s story. This has led some, including myself, to wonder if Deathloop will feature a New Game Plus.
Does Deathloop Have a New Game Plus?
Yes and no. Deathloop does not feature a traditional New Game Plus, meaning you cannot restart the entire game with all your powers, weapons, and unlocks. However, due to the structure of Deathloop you can keep playing the game even after the credits roll. The core loop will remain intact, regardless of what outcome you pick at the end, allowing you to kill all of the Visionaries with your entire arsenal. This means you can either hunt them down in their individual zones or try to slay all eight of them in a single run once more.
You will still earn slabs, trinkets, and can obtain any of the weapons you may have missed during your first playthrough. This is also great for trophy/achievement hunting since a lot of them are pretty tricky and will require endgame builds. For those that have played Hitman, Deathloop takes a lot of inspiration from this franchise in terms of replayability. It’s all about exploring the world itself and finding inventive ways to kill your target. That being said, the various story quests you will come across cannot be replayed with your current loadout.

If you do want to replay the entire game from the start you will need to open up the main menu. Go to “Options” and then select “Reset Colt’s Progression” at the bottom left corner. Doing this will cause you to lose all your gear, story progression, and items. I really don’t recommend doing this unless you really want to experience the handful of story missions and dialogue exchanges tied to some quests. Otherwise, much of Deathloop is unchanged when the actual story ends and you can dive back into the loop. Keep in mind, Juliana and Colt’s progress is separate so resetting his storyline will not impact any unlocks you’ve gotten on her.
