Fallout 76 Wastelanders Guide - Secret Service Armor Plans Location

The latest major content drop for Bethesda’s Fallout 76 is finally here. Bringing actual, living human NPCs to the irradiated lands of the Appalachia, the Wastelanders DLC introduces a number of new characters, factions, and most importantly, loot. While there’s a lot of outfits to collect, one of the most useful is the T-65 Secret Service Armor. Tied to your Power Armor, this outfit can only be obtained by a new group of survivors introduced in the latest update. Unfortunately, getting the Secret Service Armor plans is pretty complicated if you haven’t opened up Vault 79.

How to Open Vault 79

(Author’s Note: You need to complete the main Wastelanders campaign to gain access to the people inside.)

To start, you will need to actually open Vault 79. This is a lengthy, multi-step quest that tasks you with piecing together a code out of six map pieces. Each code is unique to your player, so you won’t be able to use party member’s to gain access. This is an unmarked quest, so you won’t be able to rely on mission markers telling you what to do or where to go. Keep in mind, this is an endgame quest so do not expect to complete it until you’re capable of traversing the majority of the map safely.

If you want to open the vault, head to the Grafton pawn shop and go inside. On the second floor, you’ll find a blacklight that can be turned on to reveal a bunch of cryptic words scrawled on the wall. These are marking locations you need to visit to pick up envelopes that contain pieces of a map. These areas are heavily defended by everything from Ghouls to Super Mutants to Raiders. Here are the locations of each envelope you need to obtain:

  • Haven Church – On the desk right across from the front door
  • Uncanny Caverns – In the gift shop on the checkout counter
  • Red Rocket Mega Stop – In the gas station next to the radio
  • The General’s Steakhouse – On the corner of the bar counter
  • Point Pleasant – In the Mothman gift shop on the checkout counter
  • Morgantown Highschool – On the third floor in a classroom with a giant hole in the floor. It will be on a desk next to a broken computer in the back left corner.

Once you have all six pieces, return to the pawn shop in Grafton and turn on the blacklight. Now place all six pieces on the wall that’s be illuminated to reveal your code. The order is from top to bottom, left to right as if you are reading a book. Now head all the way over to the Mysterious Cave entrance above the Vault 79 location marker and input the code. This will deactivate the elevator and you can now venture into the vault and meet the Secret Service.

Fallout 76 Secret Service Armor

Secret Service Armor Plans

Once you have access and can purchase items from the Secret Service, go and talk to Regs. He is the main vendor who sells all sorts of power and useful endgame gear. This includes the Secret Service Armor Plans which go for hundreds of gold bullions a piece. Regs also sells the modifications for these armor pieces, so if you want to use this set expect to drops several thousand gold bullions. You cannot get this armor set anywhere else, so if you really want it then be prepared to spend a lot of money. Again, this is meant for the endgame players not people who just started.

Gold Bullions is a new currency that was introduced in the Wastelanders DLC and is obtained in a few different ways. The most direct is by completing the main Wastelander’s campaign, but you’ll quickly burn through that reward on your first visit. Instead, you’ll need to trade in Treasury Notes – which are a daily Wastelander reward – at the gold press machine in The Crater. Another method is by visiting Smiley at The Wayward and trading in 1,000 caps for 50 gold bullions. This is the most direct and easiest method, as you’ll typically have several thousand caps to spare once you reach this point.

After you have the plans, just go back to your Armor Workbench and construct this item. Congratulations, now you can protect your elected leader of choice in style!
