Disclaimers About This Tier List

This Tier List ranks Pals off their base type, speed, ease of catching, and general abilities. Keep in mind that Pals have different passive and active skills, so a lower-tier Pal with great passive or active skills might outpreform a higher-tier Pal without them. This list is assuming the base Pal won't have any special speed-enhancing skills, but always make sure to check out what your Pals can do - and remember, you can selectively breed Pals to pass on desirable traits!

Fastest Flying Mounts in Palworld - Tier List

Flying Mount Pals are able to be utilized as mounts once you've captured the Pal at least once. From there, you can research the appropriate Saddle for that Pal through your Technology tree, as long as you've reached the appropriate level. Until you've seen each Flying Mount Pal at least once, you will not be able to see their respective Saddle in the Technology tree, so don't worry if you can't find a specific entry at first. Just keep hunting down those Pals and you'll have the Technology choices in no time.

How We Ranked the Best Flying Mount Pals

When coming up with our rankings for the best Flying Mount Pals, we looked at several different categories: speed, Partner Skills, Active Skill pools, how easy it is to obtain them, and general overall usefulness. Here's what our Tiers mean at a glance:

  • S-Tier: The best of the best, Pals in this category are the best in almost every situation.
  • A-Tier: Great in all situations, these Pals are well-rounded and will be more than adequate for most players.
  • B-Tier: Average to Good in a wide variety of situations, these Pals are solidly useful, but may be outpaced by higher tier Pals.
  • C-Tier: These Pals are not generally recommended, however they still can find situational usefulness.
  • D-Tier: The worst Flying Mount Pal - unless you have no other options, not recommended for long-term use.

S-Tier Flying Mount Pals: The Best Flying Mount

The absolute best of the best - there's only one Pal that deserves to be an S-Tier Rank, and that's the legendary Jetragon. Not only is it the fastest Pal, its Partner Skill is incredible, allowing it to shoot missiles while you ride it. Along with that, it has a devastating arsenal of Active Skills, including the Jetragon-exlusive Beam Comet. While other Pals are certainly easier to catch, Jetragon is worth both the wait and the effort - once you've caught this Pal, it will become one of your go-to choices for exploration, combat, and even Breeding - as a Legendary Pal, it has the elusive Legend Passive Skill which increases Attack, Defense, and Movement Speed!

A-Tier Flying Mount Pals

While not-quite S-Tier, Frostallion and Shadowbeak are incredibly versatile, powerful Pals that make for great Flying Mounts. Frostallion has a slight edge as a Legendary Pal given its Legend Passive Skill, however each of the Pals in this tier are well-rounded, and you can't really go wrong with any choice. A mix of powerful Active Skill pools, solid Partner Skills, and most importantly, movement speed, these Pals will get you from Point A to Point B with power, style, and speed.

B-Tier Flying Mount Pals

While some may be surprised to see Frostallion Noct in this tier, it lost some points because of the effort it takes to acquire it. Functionally, it's equal to Frostallion, however Frostallion Noct can only be acquired by breeding, which means not only do you have to go through the effort of capturing Frostallion in the first place, you then need to spend time and resources for what amounts to a color palette swap. We still love the dual-use for Ground Mount as well, but it's just too involved to be fully worth your time.

That said, the rest of the B-Tier Pals are solid middle of the pack choices. Pals like Faleris don't have Partner Skills as useful as those higher on this Tier List, while others like Suzaku are great all-around Pals that just don't excel in any one thing. Even Pals such as Astegon have their place here, with Partner Skills that are better suited for gathering than combat. That said, for specific purposes, these Pals could certainly excel - don't be afraid to use them for a special circumstance!

C-Tier Flying Mount Pals

Much like Frostallion Noct being downgraded a tier due to how annoying it is to obtain, the Pals in the C-Tier have similar issues. Suzaku Aqua is just Suzaku with extra time and effort, the same as Elphidran Aqua and Elphidran. Others in this category such as Elphidran itself just aren't as useful or fast as better Pals you can obtain later in the game. While these Pals will certainly work as Flying Mounts, it's worth the effort to search out those rated higher at the end of the day.

D-Tier Flying Mount Pals: The Worst Flying Mount

Unfortunately, there always has to be a Pal that wins the title of Worst Flying Mount. Out of all the Pals on this list, this one is not only one of the slowest, but also has the significant drawback of not just having a bad Partner Skill - it has no Partner Skill to speak of at all.

Nitewing, the very first Flying Mount Pal that you're able to catch and craft a saddle for, is by very nature the worst Flying Mount in Palworld. Outstripped in speed, Partner Skills, and general strength by every other Pal on this list, the only thing it really has going for it in comparison is its ease of capture. If you're looking for any Flying Mount to get off the ground, Nitewing is a great choice, but for those looking for something a bit more specialized, any other Flying Mount Pal will serve you far better in the long run.
