Caroline's vibrant hair is as bright green as any grassy weeds throughout Stardew Valley. Since she's married to Pierre and helps him run Pierre's General Store, she is not marriageable in the game. However, she can still prove to be a great friend to have, offering up some valuable cooking recipes.
What Does Caroline Like? A Gift Guide for Stardew Valley
Here's a closer look at what Caroline does and does not like. Generally speaking, she's a big tea drinker and likes tropical and/or exotic flavors. How Friendship Works in Stardew Valley
How does the Stardew Valley friendship system work? Each character’s affection for you is measured in up to 10 Hearts (14 for a spouse). You can track this at any time in the Social tab of your inventory screen. Gifts, conversation choices, or other actions can grant more affinity to level up. At certain heart levels, you trigger special events with that character. These often result in more opportunities to gain friendship or rewards like recipes or outright gifts.
Each visible heart level is worth 250 invisible “friendship points,” for want of a better term. One way to get points is simply by talking to a character once a day (20 pts.). They also sometimes have random item delivery quests (150 pts.). You can also see a movie with them (200/100 pts. if they enjoy the flick). Every day you don't interact with a villager, their friendship points decrease by 2.
Giving a villager gifts is the arguably fastest way to grind hearts, however, as long as you’ve got a reliable source for farming the item that the villager loves.
Stardew Valley Gift-Giving Table
- Loves: +80
- Likes: +45
- Neutral: +20
- Dislikes: -20
- Hate: -40
These gains are multiplied by 5 during the Feast of the Winter Star event and multiplied by 8 on a villager’s birthday, which for Caroline is Winter 7. You also gain an additive 10%/25%/50% bonus for giving higher-quality versions of an item when available.
Assuming you start farming Daffodils ASAP after the game starts in Spring, they're a solid option for gifting to Caroline as a Liked Gift. When Summer rolls around, however, be sure to buy Spangle Seeds from Pierre's General Store and start growing them. Then, on the 19th of Fall, she'll send you a letter requesting a Pumpkin that gets you 500g and 1 Friendship hearts with her, so keep the seasonal cycles in mind.
These flowers are on her Loved list and are the most efficient early-game way to boost affinity with her. Once you complete the 2-heart event with Caroline, you can visit the sunroom in her home and harvest Tea Leaves once per day during the last week of any season, and she also mails you the recipe for Tea Saplings. Using these, you can farm tea to give her.
