Deathloop Delayed Once More into September

Arkane cites continued efforts to keep the team safe and healthy during the pandemic.

Deathloop, Arkane’s time loop shooter, has been delayed once again. This time until September 14.

News of this came from posts on the game’s social channels, in the form of both a written and video statement from Game Director Dinga Bakaba and Art Director Sebastien Mitton.

The written statement reads as follows:

We’ve made the decision to delay the launch of Deathloop to September 14, 2021.

We’re committed to quality and preserving our team’s ambitions for Deathloop while ensuring the health and safety of everyone at Arkane. We’ll be using this extra time to accomplish our goal: create a fun, stylish, and mind-bending player experience.

We apologize for the extended wait and thank you all for your passion and excitement. It is the fuel that powers our creativity and hard work. We can’t wait to show you more Deathloop soon!

This is the second time Deathloop has been delayed away from its original PlayStation 5 launch window, having been previously set to launch next month on May 21. The first delay was attributed to the coronavirus pandemic requiring the team to work from home, thus encountering new challenges from working remotely. This delay more or less seems to be for the same reason, as the statement cites a desire to keep the team safe and healthy, which means away from possible exposure to the virus.

In other news:

Deathloop is currently a timed PlayStation 5 console exclusive, which makes it an anomaly among Bethesda studios’ output right now, as the company was acquired by Microsoft back in March. Xbox has given some wishy washy answers about the exclusivity terms of this deal, as even the statement that was meant to be definitive could be interpreted to mean Bethesda games will still come to other platforms.
