How To Complete The Wizard's Quests in Stardew Valley

The Wizard Tower is hiding some fantastic secrets and powerful rewards.

The Wizard plays an important role in Stardew Valley, doling out quests to build shrines and obelisks that unlock unique and powerful rewards as you progress. If you want to know how to complete the Wizard’s quests and how to utilize the Wizard’s tower, this guide will tell you everything.

How To Unlock the Wizard’s Tower in Stardew Valley

When you first start the game, you will be given a quest titled “Introductions.” The Wizard doesn’t appear on this list, as his tower is locked when you first begin the game. Instead, you need to receive a quest from Mayor Lewis titled “The Rat Problem.” This will prompt you to investigate the Community Center, where you find a plaque written in an unknown language. From here, you will receive a letter to go meet the Wizard. Alternatively, you can purchase a JojaMart membership, which will open up the tower. (The community frowns upon this choice.)

In order to make the Wizard’s tower fully accessible, you need to gain four hearts with the Wizard. This allows you access to the basement, which is where you can find the Shrine of Illusions. Using the Shrine of Illusions allows you to change a number of things, including your appearance, your pet, your favorite thing, and more. To use the Shrine of Illusions, it will cost you 500 gold per use.

What To Do in the Wizard’s Tower in Stardew Valley

At first glance, it may look like there is nothing that you can do in the Wizard’s tower. However, that is far from the truth. In order to start completing tasks in the tower, you either need to complete the JojaMart Warehouse path or you need to complete all of the bundles in the Community Center.

A cutscene happens in the railroad region, which will then start a line of quests that takes you to the Witch’s Hut. One of the quests is called “Goblin Problem,” where you have to return Magic Ink to the Wizard. By doing this, you will be able to access the shrines in the Witch’s Hut and you can then create buildings in the Wizard’s Tower.

Once you have unlocked this ability, you can interact with the magic book on the pedestal and then create buildings from there, which all have special abilities. These items can make your journey through Stardew Valley easier.

The Island Obelisk is the only building you can’t build until you have visited Ginger Island for the first time.
