When Season of the Haunted launched in Destiny 2, I slapped Sunbracers on my Warlock and haven’t looked back. Being able to throw infinite grenades is just too much fun, and even if there are more meta builds, I haven’t felt the need to mess around with any others. That is, until now. I picked up the new Rain of Fire Exotic the other day, and while it likely shines brightest in a PVP setting, I wanted to see what I could do with it in PVE. It turns out that if you build into it, it’s up there with Sunbracers for add clearing potential. Do you like Vex Mythoclast, but wish it granted itself a 25% damage buff on kills and had super Dragonfly? Well, this build is for you.
Destiny 2 Rain of Fire Warlock PVE Build
Exotics — Rain of Fire and Vex Mythoclast. Rain of Fire has two major features, granting you the Radiant buff on kills with fusion rifles and linear fusion rifles, and allowing you to reload your equipped weapon by air dodging.
Aspects — Heat Rises and Icarus Dash. That’s right, we’re not using the ubiquitous supercharged grenades. Mostly, we’re not going to be throwing grenades at all — we’re just going to be eating them to get Heat Rises. Icarus Dash here spares us from ever having to reload, because with Rain of Fire equipped, air dodging does it for us.
Fragments — Ember of Char, Ember of Eruption, Ember of Wonder, Ember of Tempering. This stack gives us and our allies increased recovery on Solar weapon final blows and enhances our Ignition effects such that they have a bigger blast radius, spread Scorch, and generate Orbs of Power.
Mods — You can go with whatever mix of Charged with Light and Elemental Well mods you like. The only two crucial ones are Seasonal Mods for your Class Item — Rays of Precision and Solar Fulmination. These increase the radius of your Ignition effects and cause any Solar precision final blows while radiant to trigger them.
Put it all together, and you’ve effectively turned Vex Mythoclast into an Ignition machine that’s constantly buffing your damage, generates Orbs of Power, and heals you and your allies. Now, you could just use something like Sunshot to get a similar effect, but you won’t be getting the actual Ignition effects or the constant 25% damage buff. Is this going to be anyone’s go-to for high-level content? Probably not, but it’s a ton of fun in any situation where you need to do add clear, and the fact that you can equip fusions in all three slots (e.g. with Vow of the Disciple Raid weapons in your Kinetic and Power slots) means that you’ve got some pretty reliable solo DPS too. Let me know what you think of this Destiny 2 Rain of Fire build and if you try it out yourself.
