Destiny 2 Season of the Lost is here and we’re heading back to The Dreaming City. Acting as a prologue to The Witch Queen expansion, this season revolves around freeing Savathun from her worm god to save Osiris from her clutches. Along with a new seasonal activity, players can also obtain new armor, weapons, exotics, and in-game consumables. If you’re looking to hop into some endgame content or just want to freeze everything around you, this is the build for you. Keep in mind, this is for endgame content such as raids or high-tier Nightfalls and is not for PVP. While you can run this in the Crucible, I really don’t advise it since a lot of this build focuses on map/enemy control.
Additionally, it’s important to note that this isn’t the only good Warlock build in Destiny 2. There are plenty you can pick from that are totally viable in Destiny’s endgame. But this is perhaps the most consistent Stasis build for this class, even when compared to the Ager’s Scepter and Mantle of Battle Harmony.
The Game Plan
The crux of this build revolves around using the Bleak Watcher Stasis Aspect to control the battlefield. While this turret lacks damage, its ability to zone out entire areas is unrivaled. Typically, players will only have one out at a time, but with my build, we can consistently get two, sometimes three turrets out. This lets us stop Champions dead in their tracks and give our fireteam some much-needed breathing room. We will need to manage multiple ability regeneration buffs, which has a bit of a learning curve. However, once you get the timing down in your head you will be constantly refreshing your turrets.
Subclass & Mods
Stasis Aspects & Fragments
- Bleak Watcher (Aspect) – The core of my build. Bleak Watcher allows us to convert our Stasis grenades into turrets that freeze and slow enemies that are struck by them.
- Glacial Harvest (Aspect) – Since we are using the Elemental Shards buff, we will need to run Glacial Harvest to ensure we make Stasis shards. This combo isn’t necessary for the build but it does give us much-needed consistency.
- Whisper of Shards (Fragment) – One of our core Fragments, this give us grenade ability regeneration whenever we shatter a Stasis Crystal. Since we will be doing this a lot, Whisper of Shards will constantly trigger so long as you can land precision kills.
- Whisper of Torment (Fragment) – We gain grenade damage whenever we take damage. Given this will happen a lot, it’s just a nice passive bonus that requires little effort on our end.
- Whisper of Durance (Fragment) – With this Fragment equipped our Bleak Watcher’s duration will increase. That’s it. That’s the entire reason I’m using this.
- Whisper of Chains (Fragment) – So this last Fragment is open to a bit of customization. Personally, I like using Whisper of Chains, not only because it gives us +10 to our Recovery, but the reduced damage from frozen targets can save our life in a pinch.
Mods
- Elemental Armaments – Since we will largely be using elemental wells to trigger our abilities, we need a consistent way to make them. Elemental Armaments turns our Stasis weapons into well-making machines that will fuel our build.
- Grenade Kickstart – A new mod you can purchase from the Wayfinder’s Compass. Grenade Kickstart simply gives us some grenade energy back whenever we throw out a grenade/Bleak Watcher.
- Elemental Shards – The sole reason we are running the Glacial Harvest Aspect, Elemental Shards converts all our Stasis shards into elemental wells. This gives us a lot of consistency since we will be spawning a ton of these with Bleak Watcher.
- Elemental Charge // Firepower – Another mod combo that revolves around getting grenade energy back. Elemental Charge will get us Charged With Light stacks whenever we grab an elemental well while Firepower gives us grenade energy whenever we cast our grenade. Combining this with Grenade Kickstart gives us a nice boost of energy right away.
- Particle Deconstruction – Look, it’s the best damage buff mod in the game right now and should be run in any high-level PVE content.
Weapons
Kinetic – Vulpecula or Peacebond
For your Kinetic slot, I strongly recommend running either Vulpecula or Peacebond. Not only are these Stasis weapons, but they will synergize with Verity’s Brow. Both are exceptionally useful in PVE, but to push this build over the edge you will want one with the new Headstone perk. This creates a Stasis crystal whenever you kill a target with precision damage. We can then shatter that crystal to trigger Whisper of Shards, giving us increased ability regeneration.
Of the two, I personally am hunting for a Peacebond since it can roll with both Demolitionist and Headstone. Plus, we can also use this sidearm to stun Unstoppable Champions which is always nice. That being said, Vulpecula with Headstone can more than get the job done. Just make sure your Primary weapon is Stasis, otherwise, Verity’s Brow will be pretty much useless.
Energy – Anything You Want
You can run any Special weapon you want in this slot, so feel free to pick your favorite. If you are unsure, you can never go wrong with Null Composer or Cartesian Coordinate, since they are absolute monsters this season. However, Salavger’s Salvo, Uzume RR4, and Truthteller are terrific alternatives.
Heavy – One Thousand Voices or Reed’s Regret
Surprising literally no one, the ideal Heavy weapon is One Thousand Voices. With the Particle Deconstruction mod, it’s the best endgame exotic weapon in the game at the moment. If you don’t have this weapon, another great option is the Trials of Osiris linear fusion rifle, Reed’s Regret. This weapon can roll with perks like Triple Tap, Clown Cartridge, Firing Line, and Vorpal Weapon. This firearm is also Stasis, meaning it will work with Verity’s Brow which is a nice little bonus. On the off chance you don’t have either of these weapons, some other options are Sleeper Simulant, Threaded Needle, and Ascendancy.
Armor
Exotic – Verity’s Brow
The last piece of the puzzle. Verity’s Brow allows us to have a constant stream of grenade regeneration since our primary weapon is Stasis. It’s very easy to get Death Throes x5 and even in raids where enemies hit a little bit harder. While you may not be able to reach the maximum amount of stacks in Grandmaster Nightfalls, the sheer benefits it offers make it worth using. We will also be helping our team since we’ll be constantly throwing out our grenades, which boosts our allies’ ability regeneration as well. I strongly recommend grinding for a good roll that has high Intellect and Recovery.
Once you put everything together, you will be able to freeze everything in your path with little effort. Just make sure to pick up the Stasis shards and break the Stasis crystals!
